{"id":378390,"date":"2025-08-27T19:21:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T19:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/378390\/"},"modified":"2025-08-27T19:21:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T19:21:13","slug":"fewer-jobs-on-offer-in-july-little-change-in-job-advertisement-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/378390\/","title":{"rendered":"Fewer jobs on offer in July, little change in job advertisement numbers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/4OPK7CY_image_crop_17641\" width=\"1050\" height=\"696\" alt=\"Employment and unemployment generic photo.\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"photo-captioned__information\">\nThe number of jobs on offer are down with little change seen over the past 10 months.<br \/>\nPhoto: RNZ\n<\/p>\n<p>The number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rnz.co.nz\/news\/business\/569246\/skilled-workers-still-battling-for-jobs-after-hundreds-of-applications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jobs on offer are down<\/a> with little change seen over the past 10 months.<\/p>\n<p>The latest SEEK NZ employment report indicates there had been little change in job advertisement volumes since October, with last month&#8217;s number down 2 percent on the year earlier.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;July marked the slowest annual decline to be recorded since pre-Covid,&#8221; SEEK country manager Rob Clark said, adding the number of applications per job ad had not changed from June.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ad volumes are at a low but have stopped declining and we have seen very <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rnz.co.nz\/news\/national\/569293\/workers-moving-towns-in-desperate-quest-for-jobs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promising growth within certain sectors, industries and regions<\/a> year-on-year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Worker demand in Southland continues to grow, thanks to a rise in housing and construction activity for the region, and this is being met with rising interest among candidates.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Month-on-month ad volumes were up by 1 percent in five regions, including Canterbury, Hawkes Bay, Southland, Tasman and West Coast.<\/p>\n<p>Regions with year-on-year volume growth included Canterbury (7 percent), Wellington (6 percent) and Otago (5 percent).<\/p>\n<p>There was also growth in the number of jobs available in the information and communication technology sector, which had been rising steadily since November.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;More recently, we have seen an uptick in demand for construction workers and engineers, which is something we can expect to continue with big investment in the sector.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ad volumes within the construction and professional services sectors saw month-on-month volume growth of 1 percent, with steep demand for construction &#8212; up 13 percent since September.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/radionz.us6.list-manage.com\/subscribe?u=211a938dcf3e634ba2427dde9&amp;id=b3d362e693\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sign up for Ng\u0101 Pitopito K\u014drero<\/a>, <b>a daily newsletter curated by our editors and delivered straight to your inbox every weekday.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The number of jobs on offer are down with little change seen over the past 10 months.
