{"id":378437,"date":"2025-08-27T19:48:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T19:48:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/378437\/"},"modified":"2025-08-27T19:48:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T19:48:12","slug":"made-an-approach-sky-sports-confirm-transfer-talks-between-celtic-and-birmingham-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/378437\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Made an approach&#8217; &#8211; Sky Sports confirm transfer talks between Celtic and Birmingham City"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Birmingham City have two ex-Celtic players in their squad at the moment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/tomoki-iwata-receives-prestigious-pfa-accolade-since-leaving-celtic-for-birmingham-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tomoki Iwata has been with the Blues<\/a> since last August and has been a roaring success, something that wasn\u2019t the case during his time at the Hoops.<\/p>\n<p>Iwata scored eight goals in 47 games last season as Birmingham won the EFL League One title, and new signing Kyogo Furuhashi has bolstered their squad for the Championship.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/ive-got-no-doubt-kyogo-furuhashi-backed-by-chris-davies-as-former-celtic-hero-waits-for-first-league-goal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kyogo moved to Birmingham from Stade Rennais<\/a> and has one goal in five appearances thus far. And another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic<\/a> star could be joining the Japanese pair.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2226854736-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Celtic wingers Hyunjun Yang and Benjamin Nygren in action for Celtic vs Ajax in the Como Cup.\" class=\"wp-image-301491\" \/>Photo by Image Photo Agency\/Getty ImagesCeltic winger Yang wanted by Birmingham<\/p>\n<p>It is being reported by Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph that Birmingham have made an approach to sign <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/yang-hyun-jun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yang<\/a> from Celtic.<\/p>\n<p>The Hoops are said to be thinking about whether to sell or not, with talks between the two clubs set to continue.<\/p>\n<p>Birmingham want to sign the winger permanently as Celtic have just five days left to green-light a deal if they choose to offload.<\/p>\n<p>Yang has been given plenty of opportunities in a Celtic shirt and has been good at making an impact off the bench as a substitute.<\/p>\n<p>But he fails to deliver as a starter and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/match\/celtic-player-ratings-vs-kairat-almaty-as-brendan-rodgers-side-crash-out-of-champions-league-on-penalties\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">disappointed against Kairat Almaty<\/a> on Wednesday night in the Champions League play-off second leg.<\/p>\n<p>The Hoops would need to replace Yang<\/p>\n<p>Celtic are already short on wingers having sold Nicolas Kuhn and Marco Tilio, while losing Jota to a long-term injury in April.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/transfers\/been-told-bbc-mans-half-time-celtic-transfer-update-during-kairat-almaty-game-that-will-excite-fans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michel-Ange Balikwisha is on the way from Royal Antwerp<\/a>, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/transfers\/celtic-submit-e3m-transfer-bid-for-sebastian-tounekti-but-hammarby-want-at-least-double-that\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic also trying to sign Hammarby star Sebastian Tounetki<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Celtic fans would not mind at all if Yang was sold, but the Bhoys need to ensure they get a replacement in before Monday\u2019s transfer deadline.<\/p>\n<p>That could mean three new wingers signed between now and September 1, with a striker and left-back also required. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Birmingham City have two ex-Celtic players in their squad at the moment.
