Newcastle United<\/strong><\/a> have reportedly decided whether they will be making a \u00a360m bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/strong><\/a> forward Jorgen Strand Larsen<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

With Alexander Isak<\/strong><\/a> remaining persistent with his efforts to leave St James’ Park<\/a>, Newcastle are in a position where they must sign at least one striker before the end of the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n

At a time when Brentford are continuing to play hardball over Yoane Wissa, attention has switched to Strand Larsen, who netted 14 goals in his first season of Premier League football.<\/p>\n

Widespread reports have indicated that Newcastle have failed with offers of \u00a350m and \u00a355m for the Norway international, Wolves insistent that the 25-year-old is not for sale.<\/p>\n

However, head coach Vitor Pereira<\/strong><\/a> suggested on Tuesday night – after Strand Larsen had netted twice against West Ham United in the EFL Cup second round – that a sale could still materialise<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Will Newcastle make third Strand Larsen bid?<\/p>\n

According to Sky Sports News<\/a>, there is very expectation that Newcastle will be putting together a \u00a360m proposal for Strand Larsen in due course.<\/p>\n

That figure is particularly notable with reports having claimed that Wolves would consider cashing in on the former Celta Vigo star if that sum was proposed.<\/p>\n

As per a number of outlets, Strand Larsen is interested in moving to St James’ Park, but will not push for an exit from Molineux.<\/p>\n

If Wolves decide to reject a bid of \u00a360m, it remains to be seen whether that stance will remain, or if Newcastle will decide to switch to an alternative target.<\/p>\n

Wolves could plausibly highlight that Newcastle may soon receive anywhere between \u00a3120m and \u00a3150m for Isak, depending on Liverpool’s intentions.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Newcastle were prepared to pay considerably more for Benjamin Sesko prior to his transfer to Manchester United than they are currently willing to shell out on Strand Larsen.<\/p>\n

Time for Wolves to consider replacements?<\/p>\n

Wolves’ owners will face criticism from some sections of the fanbase if they succumb to Newcastle’s advance with less than a week of the summer transfer window remaining.<\/p>\n

Strand Larsen has contributed 16 goals and five assists from 41 appearances in a Wolves shirt, but Wolves will also not want to keep a player whose head has been turned, even if the player in question is remaining professional.<\/p>\n

Finding a like-for-like replacement for Strand Larsen will prove difficult, yet Wolves would have at least \u00a380m to spend given that Fabio Silva is also close to signing for Borussia Dortmund<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Getafe attacker Christantus Uche is yet to give the green light to Molineux at this time, while Wolves may inevitably face competition for alternatives as the closure of the market draws closer.<\/p>\n
