{"id":379094,"date":"2025-08-28T01:37:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-28T01:37:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/379094\/"},"modified":"2025-08-28T01:37:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T01:37:11","slug":"sheffield-forgemasters-and-amrc-sign-four-year-training-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/379094\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield Forgemasters and AMRC sign four-year training deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sheffield Forgemasters has agreed a four-year engineering training contract with the University of Sheffield <a href=\"https:\/\/amrctraining.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMRC Training Centre<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The package will support\u00a0the professional and personal development of\u00a0Sheffield Forgemasters\u2019 apprentices\u00a0and\u00a0includes placement of a permanent engineering skills coach at the company\u2019s site to deliver highly advanced machining methods for trainee engineers.<\/p>\n<p>Adopting a bespoke model to train and upskill employees at the historic engineering company, the AMRC Training Centre will support the workforce as it makes the shift from traditional engineering to state-of-the-art machining facilities, currently under construction.<\/p>\n<p>Emily Baldwin, People Development Advisor \u2013 Early Careers at Sheffield Forgemasters, said: \u201cThis is a very important training programme to underpin the \u00a31.3 billion of investment into new facilities for manufacture into the UK and allied defence programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have worked with the AMRC Training Centre to identify the very specific skills that our existing and future workforce will need to get the maximum efficiency from our 30,000 m2 machining facility, which will be the most advanced of its kind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA dedicated\u00a0engineering skills coach will be based at our Brightside Lane site to oversee apprentices in a newly built training area, where they will learn the technologies required for a step-change in engineering capability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur engineering apprentices will also gain from further academic support at the AMRC\u00a0Training Centre\u00a0facility in Rotherham.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sheffield Forgemasters operates an award-winning apprenticeship programme, with ten per cent of its 725-strong workforce made up of apprentices at any one time and intake for 2025 totalled 27 new starters.<\/p>\n<p>Its recapitalisation programme is delivering a 13,000 tonne Forging Line and a machining hall, containing 15 of the world\u2019s largest vertical turning lathes and ancillary machines.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Blackburn, Head of Business Development, Engagement and Contracts at the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre, said: \u201cWe are immensely proud of our partnership with Sheffield Forgemasters.
