Lauren LaVera<\/strong>\u00a0is back this year in director\u00a0Joe Lam<\/strong>\u2018s indie\u00a0The Fetus<\/strong>, a horror-comedy with a wild pregnancy horror premise. The film will have its streaming premiere on September 9<\/strong>, and while you wait we\u2019re debuting the official prequel music video this afternoon.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s titled The Devil Inside<\/strong>, and it comes courtesy of independent metal band To Die For<\/strong>. The video for the officially licensed track features The Fetus co-star Evan Towell<\/strong>, and it serves as a prequel to the movie, expanding upon the world of the upcoming horror-comedy feature with Easter eggs that shed light on the significance of specific characters and events.<\/p>\n

The collaboration between a horror film and a metal band creating music within the same universe is a nostalgic throwback to the early 2000s, echoing iconic pairings like Ghost Ship with Mudvayne, Resident Evil with Slipknot, Queen of the Damned with Deftones, and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe collaboration with To Die For came from their genuine love for the film\u2019s fresh take on horror,\u201d says Lam. \u201cThey took the core storyline and reimagined it through their own creative musical process. When I first heard \u2018The Devil Inside,\u2019 I was completely blown away\u2014 and even more so after seeing the music video. It\u2019s an honor to have artists inspired by my work expand The Fetus universe in a way that speaks to both horror and metalcore fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very rare for an independent band to get the opportunity to do a music tie-in with a full-length film,\u201d says vocalist Tyler Morris<\/strong>. \u201cIt\u2019s even rarer for it to be a band that, at the time of the decision, hadn\u2019t released anything publicly. But when you believe in something\u2014and want to see it succeed\u2014you take the chance. We believed in what the crew of The Fetus had done, and they believed in what we had to offer as well. That mutual respect, support, and admiration is invaluable, and our work together has created something far greater than we anticipated. We\u2019re all very proud of what has been \u2018birthed\u2019 from this.\u201d<\/p>\n

To Die For features Tyler Morris<\/strong> (vocals), Matt Bolea<\/strong> (vocals), and Joseph Sauret<\/strong> (guitars, production). Music is mixed and mastered by Ricky Jabarin<\/strong> (guitarist of Taylor Acorn, Unsafe Unsound). The Devil Inside music video was filmed and edited by Travis Ilapit<\/strong>. Behind-the-scenes videography was filmed and edited by Hannah Lujbli<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
