{"id":379968,"date":"2025-08-28T09:30:17","date_gmt":"2025-08-28T09:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/379968\/"},"modified":"2025-08-28T09:30:17","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T09:30:17","slug":"prince-harry-to-visit-uk-for-first-time-since-court-defeat-on-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/379968\/","title":{"rendered":"Prince Harry to visit UK for first time since court defeat on security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The Duke of Sussex will visit the UK for the first time since his losing his court battle with the Home Office over his security.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Announcing that he would attend the WellChild annual awards ceremony on September 8, Prince Harry praised \u201cthe power of compassion, connection and community\u201d. He will meet children and carers, give a speech and present the award for the most inspirational child aged four to six.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Harry\u2019s wife, Meghan, and their two children, Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, are not expected to accompany him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">In May the duke lost his long-running legal challenge to reinstate his right to police security in the UK. In an interview with the BBC shortly after his defeat at the High Court, Harry said that his father \u201cwon\u2019t speak to me because of this security stuff. But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/article\/harry-meghan-king-aides-meeting-xpq0wcnwh\" class=\"link__RespLink-sc-1ocvixa-0 csWvlP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">it would be nice to reconcile<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">He said: \u201cI can\u2019t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point. And the things that they\u2019re going to miss is, well, everything. You know, I love my country. I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done \u2026 I think that it\u2019s really quite sad that I won\u2019t be able to show my children my homeland.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Acknowledging that his autobiography, Spare, contributed to the breakdown of relations between him and the rest of his family, Harry added: \u201cSome members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things. But I would love reconciliation with my family. There\u2019s no point in continuing to fight any more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/article\/meghan-royal-rules-interview-circuit-bw7v8rsg2\" class=\"link__RespLink-sc-1ocvixa-0 csWvlP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Meghan says her life is freer without royal rules to follow<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">In July, two of Harry\u2019s PR advisers were seen meeting with the King\u2019s head of communications after the duke stated that he would like to be reconciled with this family. It is not known whether the King will find time to meet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/topic\/prince-harry\" class=\"link__RespLink-sc-1ocvixa-0 csWvlP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harry<\/a> on his trip because Charles is expected to be in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The awards will be the 15th WellChild ceremony attended by Harry, who has been patron of the charity for 17 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">He said: \u201cI am always privileged to attend the WellChild Awards and meet the incredible children, families and professionals who inspire us all with their strength and spirit. For 20 years these awards have highlighted the courage of young people living with complex health needs and shone a light on the devoted caregivers \u2014 family and professionals \u2014 who support them every step of the way.
