Illan Meslier is one of several players expected to leave Leeds before the 1 September transfer deadline.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite the initial euphoria from Leeds\u2019 opening day victory against Everton<\/a>, optimism levels have been drained out of Elland Road over the past week.<\/p>\n

A heavy defeat to Arsenal, a shock Carabao Cup exit against Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> and a lack of transfer activity have sparked concern at Leeds.<\/p>\n

In regard to the latter, more activity is expected in the final few days of the window, though their ability to conclude business will depend on outgoings, with a truly bizarre twist emerging in the future of Meslier.<\/p>\n

Meslier was a disaster for Leeds last season<\/a>, though that seemingly hasn\u2019t stopped clubs registering an interest in the Frenchman this summer.<\/p>\n

However, in truly odd circumstances, Rangers have entered the race to sign Meslier<\/a>, according to Santi Aouna via X.<\/p>\n

Lorient are said to have made an offer, though Rangers, and in particular the 49ers, are in negotiations for the Leeds keeper.<\/p>\n

Of course, the Light Blues share an ownership with Leeds, and they will surely have been aware of the fact that Meslier nearly cost the Whites promotion last season.<\/p>\n

To then want to take him to Ibrox is very, very strange, and will almost certainly raise the debate over Multi-Club ownership once again.<\/p>\n

Leeds must do whatever it takes to offload Illan Meslier<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bizarre or not, any situation that involves Meslier departing Elland Road is a green flag.<\/p>\n

While concerns are already starting to emerge over Lucas Perri\u2019s ability<\/a>, Meslier simply has no future at Leeds, as showcased by the fact he hasn\u2019t even been named in matchday squads in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Leeds are not going to get a high fee for Meslier, but getting his wages off the books and removing the stain of his tenure is going to be crucial.<\/p>\n

As for Rangers, one can only spare some thoughts for the Light Blues faithful should the deal materialise.<\/p>\n
