This November, internationally acclaimed violinist Nicola Benedetti makes a long-awaited return to Manchester, taking to The Bridgewater Hall stage as part of her first solo tour in over a decade.<\/p>\n
Hailed by The Times as \u201cthe country\u2019s favourite violinist,\u201d the Grammy Award-winning performer and director of the Edinburgh International Festival delivers an evening of dazzling virtuosity, heartfelt emotion and music rooted in her Scottish heritage, with a programme spanning a selection of her favourite works.<\/p>\n
From romantic classics to exhilarating party pieces and beyond, Benedetti\u2019s all-embracing setlist gathers a hand-picked ensemble of close friends and collaborators, including Brazilian guitarist Pl\u00ednio Fernandes and Italian accordionist Samuele Telari.<\/p>\n
The repertoire features Paganini\u2019s thrilling Caprices, Sarasate\u2019s fiery Carmen Fantasie, Bloch\u2019s lyrical Prayer and Debussy\u2019s dreamlike Beau Soir. Audiences can also revel in an array of folk-infused favourites, from Jay Ungar\u2019s evocative Ashokan Farewell to traditional Scottish melodies, all of which will be released on Benedetti\u2019s forthcoming Decca Classics album.<\/p>\n
