Manchester United are reportedly expected to sack head coach Ruben Amorim and have identified two Premier League managers as potential replacements.<\/p>\n

Ruben Amorim<\/strong><\/a> is expected to be sacked as Manchester United<\/strong><\/a> head coach, and the Red Devils have already lined up two replacements, according to a report.<\/p>\n

The Portuguese’s position as manager has been under intense scrutiny ever since results started to go against him early in his tenure, but his job security is now arguably in serious jeopardy.<\/p>\n

Amorim oversaw a humiliating EFL Cup exit at the hands of Grimsby Town <\/strong><\/a>on penalties on Wednesday night, as the Red Devils had to fight back from two goals to force a shootout before being slain from 12 yards.<\/p>\n

The exit to the fourth-tier Mariners represented a new low ebb for Amorim, whose side have also taken just one point from their opening two Premier League matches against Arsenal and Fulham.<\/p>\n

The former Sporting Lisbon boss even suggested that he could walk away from his position <\/strong><\/a>if the club’s disastrous results did not improve, although the consensus has been that he will be given more time to turn the club’s fortunes around.<\/p>\n

‘When’ rather than ‘if’ Amorim sacked by Man United<\/p>\n

However, according to CaughtOffside – via the Evening Standard<\/a> – the likelihood is that Amorim will be given the boot, and it is a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ the Portuguese manager is relieved of his duties.<\/p>\n

Amorim is still under contract at the club until 2027, meaning that he would be due a hefty compensation packet if he is fired, but INEOS chiefs may have to take the financial hit if results on the pitch do not improve.<\/p>\n

The 40-year-old has masterminded just 17 wins from his 45 matches at the Old Trafford helm, also clinching another nine draws and losing 19 of his other games in charge.<\/p>\n

Across all competitions, Amorim has collected just 1.33 points per match, while a dissatisfactory Premier League record reads seven victories, seven draws and 15 defeats from 29 games since November 2024.<\/p>\n

Who have Man United lined up to replace Amorim?<\/p>\n

The report goes on to say that two current Premier League coaches have been earmarked as ideal replacements for Amorim, including FA Cup and Europa League-winning boss Oliver Glasner<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Crystal Palace<\/strong><\/a> manager led Eintracht Frankfurt to glory in Europe’s secondary competition in 2022, but his contract with the Eagles only runs until the end of the current campaign.<\/p>\n

There is allegedly no rush from the Austrian’s side to renew his deal at Selhurst Park, as he has apparently been left disillusioned with the club’s activity in the transfer market, and Man United could attempt to capitalise on the situation.<\/p>\n

As well as Glasner, Bournemouth<\/strong><\/a> manager Andoni Iraola<\/strong><\/a> is also admired by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co, and the 43-year-old is due to see his current contract expire in the summer of 2026 too.<\/p>\n

Iraola stayed put at the Vitality Stadium in the summer despite reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur, but the Spaniard is supposedly only waiting for a bigger offer to come along.<\/p>\n
