The alleged attacker is due in court today after a man suffered serious head injuries in Sparkbrook.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Two policemen were also attacked during the incident.<\/p>\n

A West Midlands Police\u00a0<\/a>spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a fight on Stratford Road around 10pm on Saturday. A man in his 20s suffered serious head injuries, and remains in hospital in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

“Michael Pinder was arrested and has now been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The 31-year-old, from Birmingham, has also been charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage, and possession of a Class B drug.”<\/p>\n

Pinder was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court\u00a0<\/a>today (Monday).<\/p>\n

The police spokesman added: “Our investigation is continuing and we are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.<\/p>\n

“Several people who were nearby at the time stopped to help the man who was hurt, and some of them may not yet have spoken to us.”<\/p>\n
