Prince Louis<\/a> is set to celebrate a special occasion this week as he turns seven on Wednesday. Louis, the youngest child of Prince William<\/a> and Princess Kate, is set to celebrate his birthday with his nearest and dearest. While he is still young, it is believed that the young prince\u2019s birthday will prompt mixed emotions for Kate, 43, as he is the youngest of her three children and therefore still her \u201cbaby\u201d.<\/p>\n

The princess, who calls Louis \u201cLou-bugs\u201d<\/a>, has a soft spot for the young prince and is often seen trying to stifle laughter when he shows his fun mischievous personality at royal events. Talking about Louis\u2019 position as the youngest in the family, former BBC<\/a> royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror<\/a>: \u201cBeing the youngest is often something of a privilege.<\/p>\n

“You get away with a lot more and you are that little bit special as the lastborn.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cCatherine probably lets Louis run wild more than she did with George. She and William are very experienced parents and I\u2019m sure they love all three kids equally \u2013 but probably in different ways.<\/p>\n

\u201cGeorge because he\u2019s the firstborn and has a destiny to fulfil, Charlotte because she\u2019s the only girl, and Louis because he\u2019s the youngest.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Kate has not spoken about her feelings ahead of Louis\u2019 seventh birthday, she did mention a few years ago that her youngest son seems to be growing quickly.<\/p>\n

At a royal engagement at a maternity unit in Surrey years ago, Kate told some mothers: \u201cI keep thinking Louis is a baby, but he\u2019s a big boy now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Plans for the young royal\u2019s birthday have not been publicly disclosed, however it is likely he will celebrate with his relatives.<\/p>\n

It is also likely Kate will bake Louis a cake<\/a>, with the princess having once spoken about how baking a cake for her children\u2019s birthdays had become a tradition.<\/p>\n

She told UK cooking icon Mary Berry<\/a> in the 2019 BBC<\/a> Christmas Special A Berry Royal Christmas: \u201cI love making the cake. It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it.”<\/p>\n
