Drivers in Kent <\/a>should brace for delays this morning after a multi-vehicle crash on the M20 between Maidstone and Ashford.<\/p>\n A stretch of the motorway remains closed westbound between J9 Ashford and J8 Maidstone after two cars and two lorries crashed on the carriageway towards London.<\/a><\/p>\n The collision happened shortly before 3am, but all westbound lanes remain closed to traffic.<\/p>\n National Highways<\/a> said: \u2018The M20 in Kent is closed westbound between J9 (Ashford) and J8 (Maidstone) due to a multi-vehicle collision.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t\t\tSign up for all of the latest stories\t\t\t<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a><\/strong> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> <\/strong>alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n \u2018Emergency services are on scene. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene providing assistance with traffic management.<\/p>\n \u2018There is a large amount of debris across the carriageway and damage to the central reservation barrier. National Highways contractors will be attending to assist with clear-up works and repairs.\u2019<\/p>\n Drivers trapped within the closure were being released at about 5.30am, National Highways said.<\/p>\n Traffic analyst Inrix said a nearby bridge is also being inspected for damage. <\/p>\n Travel on roads in the south could be disrupted until midday due to heavy rain<\/a>. <\/p>\n Torrential showers are expected across Essex<\/a>, Kent, Sussex, Surrey<\/a>, London<\/a> and south Wales<\/a> after Met Office<\/a> issued a yellow weather warning<\/a> for rain. <\/p>\n Some areas near the coasts could see up to 70mm of rain within a few hours, the forecaster warned. <\/p>\n Meanwhile, people travelling through London Liverpool Street station face major disruption this morning after a broken rail incident. <\/p>\n Services through the UK\u2019s busiest train station could be cancelled or delayed by up to an hour. <\/p>\n National Rail said the issue is expected to last until 11am. <\/p>\n Got a story?
