According to the Met Office the north west can expected a mixture of sunshine and scattered showers throughout the day.

The forecaster said the showers could be heavy possibly and thundery at times. It added: “Temperatures holding around the late August average in any sunnier interludes but remaining blustery.”

For Liverpool the forecast says to expect sunny intervals at the start of the day, with heavy showers expected from 11am. These will turn into light showers in the early afternoon.

From 2pm sunny intervals are expected and will remain throughout the rest of the day. It’s forecast to be a party cloudy night on Friday into the weekend. Temperatures will reach a maximum of 20C, according to Met Office.

Outlook for Saturday

The Met Office said: “A few showers first thing, then turning increasingly cloudy from the west with outbreaks of rain sweeping through during the afternoon accompanied by stronger winds. Brisk winds, especially on Sunday and feeling rather cool.”

A yellow weather warning for rain has also been issued across parts of the south of England. In London, East Sussex and parts of Hampshire the Met Office has warned of heavy showers and longer spells of heavy rain that may bring some disruption to transport and infrastructure.

It said: “10-20mm of rain in less than an hour is possible. 50-70 mm of rain is possible in a few hours where heavy showers become more prolonged, this most likely near coasts.

“Some flooding in these wetter areas is possible. A few showers could be accompanied by the odd rumble of thunder, again this more likely near to coasts.”

It said the weather will continue to push from west to east through Friday morning. A weather warning for south west England and south Wales was issued earlier in the week, however the warning has since been removed.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning across parts of the UKHeavy rain in Liverpool city…

[8815
748,393,4884,378,179,16,15,741
0":"post-381980","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-liverpool","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-in-the-news","12":"tag-liverpool","13":"tag-uk","14":"tag-united-kingdom","15":"tag-weather
["GET
