Editorial use only, no commercial use without prior consent from rights holder.\"  \/>Field Of Gold in the parade ring before the Sussex Stakes (Andrew Matthews\/PA)<\/p>\n<p>It soon transpired Field Of Gold had suffered a significant joint injury and he required some time on the sidelines, but having now returned to full work an outing on Qipco British Champions Day at Ascot appears to be firmly on the agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s on the road to recovery, John is very happy with him and he\u2019s cantering every day,\u201d said Juddmonte\u2019s racing manager Barry Mahon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s not done any fast work and he\u2019s probably heading towards Champions Day, I would imagine. Hopefully the ground isn\u2019t too soft and that\u2019s where we\u2019ll see him next.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Prix du Moulin and the Irish Champion Stakes are obviously coming too soon because he hasn\u2019t done any fast work since the Sussex, but he\u2019s doing steady canters, he\u2019s sound and the joint has tightened up well and the team are very happy with his well-being.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that we\u2019re not going to have him ready to run in September, there\u2019s no point in rushing, so we\u2019ll take our time and wait for Ascot \u2013 the QEII looks the most obvious race for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/2.81338007.jpg\" alt=\"Jonquil got back to winning ways at Goodwood\" data-title=\"Afternoon Racing \u2013 Goodwood Racecourse \u2013 Sunday August 24th\" data-copyright-holder=\"PA Wire\" data-copyright-notice=\"PA Wire\/PA Images\" data-credit=\"Steven Paston\" data-usage-terms=\"Use subject to restrictions.
