Metrolink<\/a> line will close the following weekend, it\u2019s been confirmed.<\/p>\nNo trams will run between Ashton-under-Lyne and Piccadilly Gardens from Friday, September 5, to Sunday, September 7.<\/p>\n
Replacement buses will serve the 14 stops affected by the closure.<\/p>\n
The work has been scheduled for a weekend when Manchester City\u2019s men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams are not playing at the Etihad campus, and no events are set for Co-op Live.<\/p>\n
The only major event taking place in the city centre during the weekends of disruption is master\u2019s football at the AO Arena on Friday, September 5.<\/p>\n
No further engineering works are planned for 2025, according to Danny Vaughan, TfGM Chief Network Officer.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cThis is the final piece of this year\u2019s planned track replacement programme, and we would like to thank everyone for bearing with us while these essential upgrades have been carried out.<\/p>\n
\u201cMetrolink is the largest light rail network in the country and forms a key part of the Bee Network, with our trams carrying 46 million passenger journeys last year alone.<\/p>\n
