A former bank building on the corner of George Street and Castle Street has become home to the newest branch of Screwfix. <\/p>\n

In a move which creates 10 new jobs, Screwfix are opening their new store with a wide range of Click and Collect items and also Screwfix Sprint which will bring items to the customer. The firm promises fast delivery, often in under 20 minutes from store to home. <\/p>\n

Clare Tasker, Branch Manager, said: \u201cWe chose to open a new City store in Edinburgh to better meet the needs of the local tradespeople and help them get their job done quickly, affordably and right first time.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur celebration period runs from Monday 1st to Thursday 4th\u00a0September and customers will benefit from 20% off everything. We are looking forward to welcoming and helping more tradespeople and serious DIYers over the coming months.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company announced earlier this year that it would open 35 new stores in the UK and Ireland by the end of January 2026.<\/p>\n

Every new shop is heated with air source heat pumps or other efficient electric heating and is supplied with 95% renewable electricity. The George Street store in common with all other branches has a defibrillator fitted in partnership with the British Heart Foundation.<\/p>\n

The Screwfix Foundation, which is another aspect of Screwfix\u2019s nationwide initiatives, supports local charities and community projects by providing donations to fix, repair or maintain\u00a0local homes or community facilities.\u00a0 Screwfix colleagues get directly involved in helping community projects and host charity fundraising events within the stores.<\/p>\n
