The relationship between King Charles and Prince Harry<\/a> has not been easy in the last few years. And now, as the first glimmer of reconciliation has emerged due to aides from the two meeting last month and the possibility of a face-to-face meeting between father and son in the cards, a new tell-all book could bring all of that crashing down.<\/p>\n

Former royal butler Grant Harrold\u2019s book, literally called The Royal Butler, is full of details about the behind-the-scenes interactions between the royals. Harrold worked as a valet to King Charles, Queen Camilla<\/a>, and Charles\u2019 kids, Prince Harry<\/a> and Prince William, for years, so if anyone would have inside information, it\u2019s him. But what is Harrold saying? Well, for one, he\u2019s claiming that William and Harry were actually happy about King Charles<\/a>\u2019 wedding to Queen Camilla<\/a>, which contradicts Prince Harry\u2019s memoir, Spare.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe four of them, I promise you, got on so well,\u201d he\u00a0wrote. \u201cAnd that\u2019s why I don\u2019t understand what Harry\u2019s said, I really don\u2019t understand. Because I saw them. I saw them having dinners together, I saw them having drinks together, I saw them going to parties together.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no coincidence that the book is being released now, according to sources. Rob Shuter\u2019s\u00a0Shuter Scoop<\/a> cited a palace insider as saying King Charles is using the book to \u201ccounterattack\u201d Harry. \u201cThis is Charles hitting back,\u201d they told the gossip columnist. \u201cHarrold\u2019s book is a direct counterattack on Harry. It\u2019s basically saying: don\u2019t believe him, believe me.\u201d<\/p>\n

And if reports are to be believed, Harry knows it. \u201cHe knows it\u2019s a takedown. This is the King using loyal old staff to trash his story and make him look bitter and dishonest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ironically, this all comes after Prince Harry publicly pleaded for a reconciliation. He said in a BBC interview a few months ago, \u201cI would love\u00a0reconciliation with my family<\/a>,\u201d explaining that, \u201cThere\u2019s no point continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don\u2019t know how much longer my father has. He won\u2019t speak to me because of this security stuff [the Sussex family is entitled to in the U.K.], but it would be nice to reconcile.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to People<\/a>, the meeting between their aides was a big step. \u201cThis kind of dialogue hasn\u2019t taken place in the recent past\u2014and now, lines of communication appear to be reopening,\u201d the outlet said, adding that, \u201cIt\u2019s a positive step,\u201d and, \u201cThere\u2019s optimism that it can be taken forward.\u201d And some reports indicate this could even come to include Prince William<\/a>, too.<\/p>\n

However, a source told The Mirror<\/a> that the reconciliation is indeed happening between father and son in September, but William is purposefully avoiding his brother at all costs. According to a source, there is \u201cdetermination on both sides to make [a reunion] happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody is pretending the wider family issues have been resolved, but this is about beginning with Charles and Harry,\u201d the source said, saying that it\u2019s \u201cthe right time to take that step\u201d with \u201ca simple face-to-face conversation between a father and son.\u201d<\/p>\n

The source said, \u201cThis is not about grand gestures or set-piece meetings. \u2026 The priority is privacy and dignity, but also ensuring the door stays open for further dialogue.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs for Harry and William, though, any chance of reconciliation between them has been rejected out of hand,\u201d the insider continued.<\/p>\n

The surprising development could come due to King Charles\u2019 health. A source recently told\u00a0Parade<\/a>\u00a0that concern about their father\u2019s poor health might end up being the thing that finally breaks the ice between the brothers, who both know the loss of a parent all too well. \u201cKing Charles really isn\u2019t doing well,\u201d the insider said, adding that the King\u2019s health has been \u201cdeteriorating more.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wouldn\u2019t be surprising if William and Harry reconnected a bit more over this,\u201d the source added. \u201cThis could be the thing that pushes it to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
