{"id":383230,"date":"2025-08-29T19:33:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-29T19:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/383230\/"},"modified":"2025-08-29T19:33:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T19:33:10","slug":"france-and-germany-to-strengthen-ukraines-air-defense","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/383230\/","title":{"rendered":"France and Germany to strengthen Ukraine\u2019s air defense"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>France and Germany will provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems in response to the recent wave of Russian airstrikes, including the attack on Kyiv on August 28.<\/p>\n<p>This commitment was emphasized in a joint statement by the two key EU member states, Ukrinform reports, referring to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barrons.com\/news\/france-germany-to-provide-more-air-defence-to-ukraine-statement-32e2a826\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barron\u2019s.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the report, on Friday, August 29, French President Emmanuel Macron hosted German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Toulon, France. The leaders held a Franco-German Defense and Security Council meeting, after which they issued a joint statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrance and Germany will provide additional air defense to Ukraine,&#8221; they said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Despite intensive international diplomatic efforts, Russia shows no intention to end its war of aggression against Ukraine,&#8221; they added.<\/p>\n<p>France and Germany agreed that funding for both short-term and long-term European military support for Ukraine must be increased. They also emphasize that Ukraine should play an active role in strengthening the EU&#8217;s Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB).
