Tributes have been paid to a Scots university student who tragically died at a reservoir earlier this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ayan Ayyub Khan, 23, had moved to Scotland from Maharashtra, India, in January to study Robotics engineering at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh<\/a>.<\/p>\n His family have since confirmed that he died at Harlaw Reservoir near Balerno<\/a>, just outside of the capital, on Tuesday, August 26.<\/p>\n A major search operation<\/a> was launched after police received reports of concern for a man in the water at around 4.55pm on Monday.<\/p>\n Emergency services, including divers, two water rescue teams, 20 firefighters and a coastguard rescue helicopter<\/a>, scoured the area, but were unable to locate him overnight.<\/p>\n Searches resumed<\/a> the next morning, and his body was pulled from the water at around 11am on Tuesday.<\/p>\n A statement from his family<\/a> shared with the Record said: “Ayan was the only child of his parents and his untimely death has completely shattered the family.”<\/p>\n His cousin Salman Nazeer Khan said: “His death is very sad for all of us.
