When it comes to the world\u2019s most beautiful buildings, train stations are up there\u00a0as some of the most\u00a0spectacular.\u00a0London is home to a profusion of stunning stations \u2013 from the unexpectedly futuristic, to the proudly art deco \u2013 and we have ranked them all here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now a new list of the planet\u2019s most gorgeous train stations has been revealed, and one terminal from the Big Smoke made the cut.\u00a0<\/p>\n

St Pancras International<\/a><\/strong> has been named as one of the nine most beautiful stations in the world by the Express<\/a>. Opened in\u00a01868, the iconic station is most\u00a0known for its red brick gothic revival fa\u00e7ade. The building\u00a0is also home to\u00a0the\u00a0St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London (FKA the Midland Grand), a neo-gothic masterpiece with towering spires and huge arched windows, designed by\u00a0George Gilbert Scott.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Inside, the station\u2019s striking Victorian architecture comprises the Barlow train shed, an arched\u00a0iron-and-glass roof designed by\u00a0designed by William Barlow and engineer RM Ordish.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The London station, known for linking the UK with Europe via the Eurostar, was joined by the likes of New York\u2019s<\/a> Grand Central Terminal,\u00a0Hua Hin train station in Thailand and Kanazawa Train Station in Japan<\/a>. St Pancras International was the only British station to make the ranking, however a number of European spots made the cut, including the Eurostar\u2019s French counterpart the Gare du Nord and the azulejo-tiled\u00a0S\u00e3o Bento station\u00a0in Porto<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
