A popular Newton Mearns Indian restaurant has been named as having the most ‘innovative\u00a0menu’ in Scotland.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Malletsheugh in East Renfrewshire<\/a>\u00a0scooped the Innovative Menu of the Year accolade\u00a0at the Scottish Curry Awards 2025.<\/p>\n

The awards ceremony took place at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow on Monday, April 14.<\/p>\n

It aims to recognise and celebrate the ‘talents and hard work of individuals and businesses in the Scottish curry industry’.<\/p>\n

The Malletsheugh\u2019s Pav Birk said: \u201cWe are beyond thrilled that people seem to get what we are trying to do here \u2013 the restaurant is our family dream and it\u2019s beautiful to see people embrace it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been strong-armed into leaving the kitchen to come along tonight, by my brothers and our mum \u2013 I wasn\u2019t happy, but I\u2019m glad now I listened. It\u2019s a real honour to pick up these titles.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really pride ourselves on our menu and on listening to customers and taking lots of care and attention to ensure there\u2019s something for everyone \u2013 we designed the menu thinking of families or groups and the different tastes and preferences.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we have everything from the hottest curry to the most simple of European offerings.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy passion is for the Indian side of cuisine, and we really push the boundaries, bringing in different flavour profiles and ideas, with lots of inspiration from our own family,\u00a0especially my dad and grandad, who were pioneers in Indian food in Scotland.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all in honour of them, so winning the Innovative Menu of the Year award feels like we\u2019re doing things in a way they would approve. It really does mean the world to us.\u201d<\/p>\n

On top of the Innovative Menu of the Year accolade, the food spot also won an Outstanding Achievement nod in the hotly contested Best Of Greater Glasgow category.<\/p>\n

Pav added: \u201cGlasgow is renowned for some of the best curries in the world, so this is another big win for us.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know we go above and beyond on everything we do, and it\u2019s very rewarding to see that people understand that and appreciate it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not even two years in, so it\u2019s incredible to step back and look at achievements like this \u2013 but we are just getting started.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to thank everyone who makes The Malletsheugh so special, from our amazing team to the most important people of all, those around us who have made us part of the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe try to give back and help local causes because we have really been accepted and welcomed by the local community \u2013 that\u2019s the biggest reward.<\/p>\n
