Prince Harry is set to reunite with King Charles<\/a> when he returns to UK shores for the WellChild Awards in September, but royal expert Jennie Bond believes the potential reunion could hit a major snag.<\/p>\n The Duke of Sussex<\/a>‘s rare trip to England will coincide with the third anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth<\/a> on September 8, and while sources claim Harry will have a meeting with Charles, Jennie Bond believes it\u2019s possible Charles won’t be available to mark the sombre day, despite having no foreign engagements planned.<\/p>\n The former BBC<\/a> royal correspondent also told the Mirror<\/a> that a reconciliation is long overdue between the estranged father and son.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Meghan Markle in danger of being ‘dropped’ by Netflix as second series \u2018not doing well\u2019<\/a>READ MORE: Prince William\u2019s heartbreaking promise to Diana after her divorce from Charles<\/a> She said: “I will say that a meeting between Harry and his father is long overdue. I have always thought that it is the parent\u2019s role to be the bigger person in any family row: you just have to open your arms and say to your child \u2013 albeit a grown-up child – \u2018Come here you silly so-and-so, and give me a hug.’\u201d<\/p>\n Jennie admitted that this is easier said than done when talking about the royal family<\/a>, given the spate of public jabs since Harry and Meghan left the Firm in 2020. If you\u2019re curious, you can read our Privacy Notice<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n CLICK HERE TO JOIN<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThat, though, simply hasn\u2019t been possible while Harry was suing his father\u2018s own government over his security demands,\u201d she said. \u201cNow that that court case is over, a major obstacle to a meeting has been cleared.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo, particularly given that we know that the communications teams from each side have met fairly recently and that therefore an avenue of communication is open, a meeting when Harry is here for the Well Child Awards could hopefully happen.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite Harry sharing his desire to reunite with his father in a tell-all interview with the BBC in May, Jennie Bond believes that Charles may be in Scotland on the same day of Harry\u2019s charity engagement, which could cause scheduling issues.<\/p>\n Jennie said: \u201cWe have all become quite used to Harry coming and going without seeing his family. His visits are generally extremely brief and the King is usually up in Scotland<\/a> for the anniversary of his mother\u2018s death. So arranging a meeting may not be straightforward.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this week, the Mirror exclusively reported that Harry is poised to see his father for the first time in 20 months when he returns to Britain \u2013 although Prince William<\/a> has rejected any reconciliation with his brother.<\/p>\n The thawing of relations between the Duke of Sussex <\/a>and the monarch comes after an informal peace summit with Buckingham Palace<\/a> officials.<\/p>\n When asked if Harry is likely to reach out to any other members of his family during his rare trip to the UK, Jennie speculated: \u201cHarry may well see some of his cousins \u2013 such as Eugenie or Beatrice \u2013 but I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any likelihood of a meeting with William or Catherine. The rift between the brothers remains too deep and William has far too much going on in his life to worry about the Harry problem.<\/p>\n \u201cI would never say never in a family dispute. As the years roll by, it may be that William will find a way to reconcile with Harry. But that day \u2013 if it ever comes, and it may not \u2013 is not any time soon.\u201d<\/p>\n While there have been numerous factors contributing to why William has seemingly no desire to mend the bridge with Harry, Jennie Bond believes the rumours of a potential documentary on Princess Diana<\/a> – commissioned by Prince Harry<\/a> as part of his new Netflix<\/a> deal – could only prolong the rift.<\/p>\n She said: “How sad it would be if Harry decided to go it alone on another film about her. He shared that agonising loss with his brother. They were in shock together, they grieved together, they walked side by side behind her coffin.<\/p>\n \u201cA solo film by Harry would simply underline the bitter feud with his brother and would antagonise the rest of the family. I suspect these reports are just rumours and wishful thinking by Netflix.
