There are many areas of the country that can suit the needs of everyone, including those looking for a party trip or those looking to unwind.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">For those visiting the country,<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/travel\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> it is important to be aware of the local laws <\/a>that should be followed. In Spain, alcohol laws can be different than they are in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Similar to England, It\u2019s illegal to drink alcohol in the street in some areas of Spain. You can get an on-the-spot fine. There are strict controls on drinking and sexual activity in public places, including on beaches. If you are found drinking in a public space, you can be fined up to \u20ac3,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">If you are planning a trip to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/travel\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the Balearic Islands<\/a>, local laws may affect you when it comes to purchasing alcohol. According to the Foreign Office, sale of alcohol may be limited in some resorts including Magaluf, Playa de Palma and San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The ban on alcohol can include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"unordered-list\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">happy hours<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">open bars (such as \u2018all you can drink in one hour\u2019 offers)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">the sale of alcohol from vending machines<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">self-service alcohol dispensers<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">organising pub crawls and party boat trips<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">\u2018off-licence\u2019 sales between 9.30pm and 8am<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Foreign Office warns: &#8220;Hotels and other establishments will evict you if you behave dangerously on balconies. You could also get a fine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Last month, the travel agency reminded travellers to stay alert and aware while drinking alcohol abroad. On X it said: &#8220;On a party holiday?<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Share your location with friends. Because the only thing worse than losing your friend is trying to describe \u2018that one bar with the lights\u2019 to a taxi driver.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">It comes as part of the government&#8217;s <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/travel\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Travel Aware campaign<\/a> to ensure you have the best possible travel abroad, help you stay safe and understand risks in different countries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Foreign Office urges people to &#8220;stick with your mates&#8221;, on the travel aware website, it says: &#8220;Sadly, for a small number of Brits, their holiday ends in a hospital ward or a police station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">You should check<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/travel\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> FCDO Travel Advice<\/a> before travelling to make sure you are fully informed on the entry requirements, and that you understand and comply with local rules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">You should also get a travel insurance policy and make sure you know what cover it provides. If you do not have appropriate insurance before you travel, you could be liable for emergency expenses, including medical treatment, which may cost thousands of pounds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/politics\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"government Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">government <\/a>has previously issued travel warnings surrounding drink spiking including methanol spiking. Official advice reads: \u201cSpiking is when someone sneaks something into your drink, like drugs or harmful substances, without you knowing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;It can be done to make you blackout, incapacitated, or worse. Methanol spiking is when alcohol is contaminated with methanol to save money.
