{"id":384904,"date":"2025-08-30T10:36:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-30T10:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/384904\/"},"modified":"2025-08-30T10:36:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-30T10:36:10","slug":"france-says-door-remains-open-for-diplomacy-ahead-of-iran-sanctions-snapback-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/384904\/","title":{"rendered":"France says door \u2018remains open\u2019 for diplomacy ahead of Iran sanctions snapback \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>French Foreign Minister Jean-No\u00ebl Barrot said on Saturday that Paris remains open to talks with Iran to avoid the reimposition of far-reaching sanctions if Tehran is willing to take concrete steps immediately.<\/p>\n<p>France, Germany and the United Kingdom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/uk-france-germany-sanctions-iran-nuclear-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notified the United Nations on Friday<\/a> that crushing global sanctions against Iran which were lifted a decade ago would now snap back within 30 days due to the Iranian government&#8217;s unwillingness to cooperate with the international community on its nuclear program.<\/p>\n<p>Reiterating France&#8217;s commitment to reimpose the sanctions, Barrot nonetheless left the door open to further talks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What happens now?&#8221; he said. &#8220;A 30-day period opens at the end of which sanctions can be applied.
