Former Premier League<\/a> referee Dermot Gallagher has agreed with Stuart Attwell after the referee disallowed a Leicester City<\/a> goal against Liverpool<\/a>. Patson Daka flicked the ball on for Conor Coady<\/a> to head home from point-blank range against his boyhood club.<\/p>\n However, those celebrations were soon over as the Reds were awarded a free-kick for a foul on Alisson<\/a>. The two players collided while trying to make contact with a high ball dropping near the byline.<\/p>\n Daka initiated contact with the Liverpool goalkeeper, which left him off the pitch and Coady with an open goal to head the ball into. Gallagher said during Ref Watch on Sky Sports News<\/a> that he agrees with the referee.<\/p>\n “I think this is a foul,” the former referee said. “We’ve spoken at length about fouls on goalkeepers; if you look at this, he doesn’t hold his ground; to hold your ground, you stand still.<\/p>\n “He moves into the goalkeeper, I think, once you move into the goalkeeper [it’s a foul].”<\/p>\n The former Liverpool player Stephen Warnock also concurred. He said: “I do think goalkeepers get overprotected, but there is a feeling that if you look at the ball, then look at the player and make that move [it’s a foul].<\/p>\n “If you hold your ground, I’m fully with you, but he doesn’t hold his ground; he takes a step to the left, and you will see that Daka definitely takes a look at Allison to know exactly where he is.”<\/p>\n
