Passengers are facing a day of disruption on tram services in Manchester city centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Engineering works are taking place today (August 31) on the line at Mosley Street, between St Peter’s Square and Piccadilly Gardens<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It means no services<\/a> can run between those stops, or between St Peter’s Square and Market Street.<\/p>\n

All Metrolink<\/a> stops are remaining open, but some services are being diverted.<\/p>\n

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) says some passengers may have to change trams during their usual journeys.<\/p>\n

A TfGM spokesperson said: “On Sunday, August 31, track repair works will take place on Mosley Street in Manchester city centre.<\/p>\n

“During this time, no trams will operate between St Peter’s Square and Market Street<\/a>\/Piccadilly Gardens<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“All stops will remain open during these works, however some customers may have to change trams or take a short walk to reach their usual stop.<\/p>\n

“Ashton-under-Lyne services will operate to Bury<\/a>, calling at Piccadilly, Piccadilly Gardens, Market Street and Shudehill en-route.<\/p>\n

“Other cross-city services will divert via Exchange Square. Tram services will resume their normal service pattern from Monday, September 1.”<\/p>\n

TfGM says passengers can reach Piccadilly, Piccadilly Gardens, Market Street and Shudehill stops by changing onto Ashton-bound services at Victoria.<\/p>\n

Some services will be terminating at Cornbrook or Deansgate-Castlefield, where passengers can board another service for Victoria, while Altrincham<\/a> line trams will terminate at Crumpsall rather than Bury.<\/p>\n

No replacement bus services are running today, with passengers advised to use the free buses in Manchester city centre if needed.<\/p>\n
