\n The march, organised by Sutton Friends of Palestine, began at 2pm today (August 30) with participants meeting at the lower entrance of St Nicholas, by Manor Place.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Metropolitan Police said the additional officers are on the high street both in connection with the march and because Sutton United are playing at home today.\n<\/p>\n
\n A police spokesperson added: \u201cNo incidents or offences have been reported.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n This comes following disputes over St George’s flags reportedly being hung up on Sutton High Street yesterday (August 29).\n<\/p>\n
\n There have been rows over the motivation of flags being raised across England, as some argue it is just a sign of\u00a0patriotism, while others fear its intention is to cause more of a divide amid anti-migrant and far-right protests.\n<\/p>\n
\n Several local authorities have removed\u00a0flags\u00a0from street infrastructure, citing road safety fears.\n<\/p>\n
\n A spokesperson for Sir Keir Starmer previously said he \u201cabsolutely\u201d is in favour of people who put up English flags.\n<\/p>\n
