Currently, the airline permits passengers to bring a <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/ryanair-warning-airport-charge-could-32236915\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"small carry-on bag for freeLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">small carry-on bag for free<\/a> with each ticket.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The maximum size allowed is 40cm x 20cm x 25cm, with a weight limit of 10kg. However, starting in the following weeks, this size limit will increase to 40cm x 30cm x 20cm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">This change comes as the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/jet2-ryanair-tui-easyjet-passengers-32374379\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"EU has revised carry-on rulesLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">EU has revised carry-on rules<\/a>, standardising free luggage allowances across the region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Previously, EU-based budget airlines like EasyJet, Ryanair, Wizz, and others <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/ryanair-rule-means-you-could-32207753\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"often imposed substantial fees for hand luggageLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">often imposed substantial fees for hand luggage<\/a>, depending on its size and weight. Consequently, Spain&#8217;s Consumer Rights Ministry fined five budget airlines \u20ac179 million (\u00a3149 million) in November 2024 for what it deemed &#8220;abusive practices.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">This ruling, combined with pressure from consumer rights associations and passengers, has prompted the EU to advocate for fairer and more consistent hand luggage rules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">We have a dedicated newsletter for ChronicleLive\u2019s money-saving and cost of living stories.
