{"id":38720,"date":"2025-04-21T16:11:09","date_gmt":"2025-04-21T16:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/38720\/"},"modified":"2025-04-21T16:11:09","modified_gmt":"2025-04-21T16:11:09","slug":"england-bolter-labelled-incredible-talent-as-exeter-boss-piles-on-praise-planet-rugby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/38720\/","title":{"rendered":"England bolter labelled &#8216;incredible talent&#8217; as Exeter boss piles on praise : Planet Rugby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>New Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Hunter has lauded the growth of winger Paul Brown-Bampoe and feels he could be their go-to man moving forward.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 22-year-old has hit the ground running in his maiden professional season with the Chiefs, scoring 18 tries in 19 appearances in all competitions, and has quickly seen his name thrown into the mix for an England call-up this summer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s an incredible talent\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Durham University graduate has enjoyed a fairly rapid rise into the Exeter squad this season. After featuring in the first six rounds of the season, the winger was sent on loan to National One side Plymouth Albion. However, following injuries to Josh Hodge and Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, he was drafted back into the Chiefs\u2019 side to face French juggernauts Bordeaux-Begles \u2013 a game in which he scored two tries.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, there\u2019s been no looking back for the powerhouse winger. He has started 11 consecutive games for the Devonians in all competitions and nabbed a whopping 11 tries in that time too, including four against Cornish Pirates and braces against Sale Sharks and Bath.<\/p>\n<p class=\"px-3 xs:px-4 mt-3 mb-2 font-semibold leading-snug text-base text-title\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/news\/the-incredible-compliment-paid-to-maro-itoje-ahead-of-decision-on-british-and-irish-lions-tour-captain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The \u2018incredible\u2019 compliment paid to Maro Itoje ahead of decision on British and Irish Lions tour captain<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>His form in the back-end of the season has seen him skyrocket into the England conversation ahead of their summer tour to the Americas, and speaking to the media after the 26-24 loss to Bath, he earned high praise from the new boss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is already (a big player for Exeter), he\u2019s attracting a lot of interest as your best players always do,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/tag\/rob-hunter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hunter<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019s an incredible talent, a joy to work with and probably our most improved player, considering I was watching him against Exeter University a year and a half ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s exciting every time he touches the ball. I think we need to just get the ball to him, it\u2019s a really important thing for us to have a game plan that brings these guys into it rather than standing on the edge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not the only one<\/p>\n<p>Brown-Bampoe isn\u2019t the only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/exeter-chiefs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Exeter<\/a> outside back in good form of late, and despite their league position, still in England contention for the summer tour, with Hodge also earning high plaudits of late too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"my-1 text-sm font-semibold leading-snug text-title line-clamp-3 sm:mb-0 sm:text-[15px] sm:leading-5 sm:line-clamp-2\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/news\/bath-boss-reveals-science-behind-bomb-squad-tactic-after-latest-premiership-triumph\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bath boss reveals \u2018science\u2019 behind Bomb Squad tactic after latest Premiership triumph<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The England A back spent the back-end of last season outside of the Chiefs\u2019 starting XV, with Welsh U20s ace Dan John preferred at full-back, but Hunter feels he has made \u2018huge strides\u2019 since returning to the side this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJosh has made some huge strides (this season),\u201d he said. \u201cHe\u2019s a skilful attacker, and to be fair to him he\u2019s got a bit stronger and that helps him in contact, but he\u2019s electric with ball-in-hand and he\u2019s one of those players that we\u2019ve just got to get the ball to him in space. He\u2019s such a talent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got some electric attackers (in the outside backs), we\u2019ve got Tommy Wyatt, Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and Olly Woodburn to come back into it as well.
