Birmingham<\/a> City want a left-back and an attacker, with a deal for the latter potentially seeing Lyndon Dykes depart, according to Darren Witcoop<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Birmingham<\/a> City have had a summer transfer window like no promoted side before them. BCFC have spent big, striking statement deals to prepare for the step up to the Championship.<\/p>\n

The start to the season has been challenging, but two wins, a draw and a loss makes for a respectable run to kick off the campaign with the Blues backed to get better as the year progresses.<\/p>\n

Despite notable signings such as Kyogo Furuhashi<\/a>, Demarai Gray<\/a> and more, the business isn\u2019t done at St. Andrew\u2019s as we head into deadline day.<\/p>\n

Writing on X, reporter Darren Witcoop<\/a> has said that Birmingham<\/a> City are chasing the signing of a new left-back and an attacking player. Witcoop adds that if the latter is achieved, it is expected that striker Lyndon Dykes will see a departure sanctioned.<\/p>\n

Witcoop does not name the lead left-back or attacking target, but it will be hoped that a deal can be done before deadline day\u2019s 7pm cut off tomorrow.<\/p>\n

If not, Davies has not been left short, and the pressure will be on to get results out of the talented group he has at his disposal.<\/p>\n

Birmingham<\/a> City\u2019s current options at left-back and in attack<\/p>\n

Left-back is a position that has been the subject of interest at Birmingham<\/a> City for a little while now. In fact, given the scale of their recruitment this summer transfer window, it is perhaps surprising that they haven\u2019t added there yet.<\/p>\n

Alex Cochrane has been the go-to man there for Davies due to Lee Buchanan\u2019s injuries<\/a>, and the former Derby County<\/a> man is still expected to be out for some time, so Cochrane needs cover and competition.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Ethan Laird filled in at left-back in the defeat to Leicester City<\/a>. Fellow natural right-siders Alfons Sampsted and Taylor Gardner-Hickman have also been tried there, but to little success.<\/p>\n

As for the attack, the striker position is brimming with talent with Jay Stansfield, Marvin Ducksch and Furuhashi, but the consensus is that another wing option would not go amiss. Someone on the right might be ideal given Gray and Lewis Koumas have signed as naturals on the left.<\/p>\n

\nWho else could benefit from a deadline day exit?<\/p>\n

Though Birmingham<\/a> City will prioritise adding to the ranks before the end of business on deadline day, Dykes isn\u2019t the only player who could benefit from a move elsewhere, and some might not need signings to come in before they can exit.<\/p>\n

Full-back Sampsted is an option to move on given the depth at right-back, and there are some youngsters who will gain from heading elsewhere too.<\/p>\n

Davies has said BCFC academy graduates George Hall and Alfie Chang are free to depart<\/a>, and at this late window, loan deals may be the most feasible for them. If another winger is signed, Scott Wright\u2019s situation could be one worth keeping an eye on as well.<\/p>\n
