The pair haven\u2019t been in the same room since Charles\u2019s cancer diagnosis in February last year, and royal expert Duncan Larcombe predicts any potential reconciliation could result in some difficult conversations with Meghan back in the US.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Last week, the duchess revealed she was left feeling \u201cnot well\u201d after spending almost three weeks apart from <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/entertainment\/king-charles-makes-sad-decision-35222528\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Prince Archie and Princess LilibetLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet<\/a>, so the prospect of her children being part of Harry\u2019s family reconciliation is unlikely to sit well with her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Duncan says: \u201cMeghan clearly hates being apart from her children and when Harry has come to the UK, Meghan hasn\u2019t come with him and has been blamed for snubbing Britain as a result.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/0_prince-harry-behind-charles.jpg\" alt=\"Sir Timothy Laurence, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and King Charles III walk behind the coffin during the procession for the Lying-in State of Queen Elizabeth II on September 14, 2022\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Harry is expected in London on September 8 (Image: Karwai Tang\/WireImage)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;I think it runs deeper than that, she wants to be a hands-on mum and was never prepared to make the sacrifice that royal mums have to make.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cIf, and hopefully it\u2019s a \u2018when\u2019 not an \u2018if\u2019, Harry starts to reconcile with his family over here, Meghan will ultimately face an exceedingly difficult choice. Does she come with Harry and look the people she\u2019s criticised in the eyes, which is going to be tough? Or does she allow Harry to come with the children and stay away?<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cIf it\u2019s the latter, she would miss the children, and it would be interpreted as an enormous snub by Meghan herself and the rift then becomes more about her than Harry. So she faces potentially difficult choices if we\u2019re getting to a state where Harry\u2019s prepared to bury the hatchet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Meghan\u2019s \u201cnot well\u201d confession came on the second series of her Netflix series, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/entertainment\/meghan-harry-going-ways-prince-35818570\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"With Love, Meghan,Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">With Love, Meghan,<\/a> which dropped last week.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/0_meghan-markle-netflix-show.jpg\" alt=\"Meghan, Duchess of Sussex in episode 203 of With Love, Meghan\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The Duchess of Sussex has revealed how spending nearly three weeks away from her children left her &#8220;not well&#8221;(Image: Jake Rosenberg\/Netflix\/PA Wire)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">While chatting to celebrity guest Queer Eye star <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/entertainment\/meghan-markle-fits-giggles-over-35791410\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Tan FranceLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Tan France<\/a> about family, she said the longest she\u2019d been away from the youngsters was \u201calmost three weeks\u201d, adding, \u201cI was\u2026 not well.\u201d While she didn\u2019t specify when it was, it is widely thought to have been around the time of Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s death in September 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Windsor Castle walkabout following the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/news\/uk-world-news\/queen-put-ban-two-things-35801569\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Queen\u2019sLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Queen\u2019s<\/a> death was the last time Meghan was seen with Harry and her brother and sister-in-law, William and Kate, and the last official royal duty she performed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In the years since, Harry has repeatedly said he doesn\u2019t want to bring his wife or children to the UK because he worries for their safety.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Last year, he cited the threat of possible attacks on Meghan in particular, revealing, \u201cAnd whether it\u2019s a knife or acid, these are things that are genuine concerns for me. It\u2019s one of the reasons why I won\u2019t bring my wife back to this country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The purpose of Harry\u2019s London trip is to attend WellChild Awards, on 8 September, but in relation to a possible face-to-face with Charles, a source said last week, \u201cThis is not about grand gestures or set-piece meetings \u2013 it\u2019s about a simple conversation between a father and his son.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">If it happens, Duncan says, Harry may soften his stance when it comes to the children \u2013 but adds that it\u2019s unlikely to sit well with Meghan because \u201cshe will always fight for her family, to keep them together\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cAs Harry heads to the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/news\/uk-world-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"UKLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">UK<\/a> he will remember what he gave up,\u201d he says. \u201cHe will be bitterly disappointed, privately, that his own children haven\u2019t had a chance to get to know that grandfather. So the visits to Britain just reinforce the sense of loss for Harry, that he hasn\u2019t been able to bring his children over \u2013 and he will want to address that somehow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cA lot of noise is being made behind the scenes that there is a real desire to end this rift as soon as possible, and to meet.
