\n Around 100 counter-protesters held banners bearing the words \u201cstand up to racism\u201d and \u201cstop the far right\u201d.\n<\/p>\n
\n The group chanted \u201csay it loud and say it clear, refugees are welcome here\u201d.\n<\/p>\n
\n Around a dozen anti-immigration demonstrators stood across the road.\n<\/p>\n
\n It comes after the Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson has said Reform UK is \u201cwhipping up anger\u201d about immigration but does not have a plan to tackle the issue.\n<\/p>\n
\n Speaking on Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips on Sky News, the minister said: \u201cI understand the frustration that people feel, because I understand when they see, for example, asylum hotels and big numbers of people in their community.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI understand how that can make people feel.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cBut Nigel Farage and Reform, they don\u2019t actually want to sort this problem \u2013 interests are served by whipping up anger rather than fixing it.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n Asked what the difference is between what the Labour Government says on immigration and what Reform says, Ms Phillipson replied: \u201cThe difference is we\u2019ll actually take action.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n The deputy leader of Reform UK has said it is \u201cridiculous\u201d to suggest his party could encourage people to break into hotels and intimidate asylum seekers.\n<\/p>\n
\n Asked on Sky News\u2019s Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips programme if he could be clear there was \u201cno encouragement\u201d from the party to \u201cthe sort of person who wants to break into asylum hotels in masks and to intimidate asylum seekers\u201d, Richard Tice said: \u201cOf course, what a ridiculous suggestion.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cIt\u2019s an outrageous suggestion. Of course we\u2019re not suggesting that,\u201d he added.\n<\/p>\n
