The four-year-olds are dominating at the races.<\/p>\n

Australian racing has some of the most exciting four-year-old horses in the world right now, headlined by Treasurethe Moment<\/strong> and Aeliana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Treasurethe Moment impressively won the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday by 2.5 lenghts, defeating stars like Mr Brightside<\/strong>, Buckaroo<\/strong> and Fangirl<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

While Aeliana went head-to-head with superstar Via Sistina<\/strong> in the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m) in Sydney recently, losing to the Cox Plate champion by just 0.36 lengths.<\/p>\n

David Gately<\/strong> and Peter Anthonisz<\/strong> joined SENTrack\u2019s Giddy Up to discuss the exciting youngsters taking Australian racing by storm.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were really excited about this three-year-old crop of fillies, more so than the colts and geldings\u2026 but how would it translate to the four-year-old season?\u201d Gately questioned,<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, the early evidence is nothing short of outstanding, both sexes.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou saw Aeliana return last week and give Via Sistina a big scare, and then you saw Treasurethe Moment come back and give Fangirl and Mr Brightside windburn.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is exciting. You can add Sepals<\/strong> to that four-year-old mix, Tropicus<\/strong> (as well).<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, what it does, it adds depth to our great sport, leading into what\u2019s shaping as one of the better springs I\u2019ve seen in a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The only question Gately had around Treasurethe Moment was: what distance will the emerging star be most effective at?<\/p>\n

\u201cThe query is with Treasurethe Moment \u2013 when you\u2019re this brilliant, you\u2019re not often both an endurance athlete and a brilliant shorter-course athlete,\u201d Gately said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, this will be the trick with her, and what they do with her moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Form analyst Anthonisz also touched on fellow four-year-old, On Display<\/strong>, reflecting on her amazing 1400m win at Caulfield on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased off that first-up win, she\u2019s pretty good,\u201d Anthonisz said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I will temper that with a little bit of the potential that she might be flat off that run.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m always a little bit wary of those horses coming out of a very fast tempo, she might just be a little bit flat second-up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gately agreed with Anthonisz\u2019 synopsis, but believes On Display may be good enough to sustain her form.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe travelled so strongly, didn\u2019t she!\u201d Gateley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBen Melham<\/strong> doesn\u2019t make many mistakes, (he) steered her into the clear and she powered home.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think you have to factor in 60.5 kilos, it\u2019s not easy to do \u2013 first-up at 1400m, they went hard in that race.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Pete\u2019s point\u2019s pretty relevant, that sometimes a fast race can have an impact on any athlete, the next time they run.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m hopeful she can sustain her form, I think she\u2019s genuinely exciting.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just going to keep following all these four-year-olds, I reckon it\u2019s gonna be a license to print money.\u201d<\/p>\n
