In the meantime, London Ambulance Service continues to invest in greener vehicles. It was the first to introduce a fully electric ambulance and now operates the UK’s largest fleet of net zero emergency vehicles, including 42 fully electric response cars, as part of its mission to cut costs, improve air quality, and deliver sustainable healthcare.

Established 25 years ago, LAS’s Cycle Response Unit enables paramedics to quickly reach patients in congested and pedestrianised parts of central London, as well as responding to emergencies at Heathrow Airport. The cycle teams carry much of the same life-saving equipment as ambulance crews, including defibrillators and oxygen.

To read similar articles, check out our Sustainability channel

London Ambulance Service (LAS) has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award thanks to its cycle team’s legwork…

[7757
16186,748,12785,393,16188,4884,257,136,3739,3695,16,15
0":"post-388420","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-london","8":"tag-ambulance","9":"tag-britain","10":"tag-electric-bikes","11":"tag-england","12":"tag-frontline","13":"tag-great-britain","14":"tag-london","15":"tag-london-ambulance-service","16":"tag-net-zero","17":"tag-sustainability","18":"tag-uk","19":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
