That\u2019s a risk we cannot take.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tRead more<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<a class=\"read-more__link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cityam.com\/donald-trump-slams-north-sea-oil-taxes-that-make-no-sense\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Donald Trump slams North Sea oil taxes that \u2018make no sense\u2019\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a range of credible sources showing we will need between 10-15 billion barrels of oil and gas while still meeting UK net zero goals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUK producers are only lined up to produce about 4 billion of those, and even that target is now at risk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, 85 per cent of homes are heated by gas, and while electric vehicle uptake is growing rapidly, around 23 million vehicles on our roads still rely on petrol and diesel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy making the most of our homegrown oil and gas while accelerating renewables, the UK can turn one of its greatest assets \u2013 the waters around its coast \u2013 into a strong driver of economic growth.
