All Rights Reserved)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Three major events are set to be held in Cardiff on Sunday and this means there will be a series of disruptions to those travelling to the Welsh capital on the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">With thousands of runners expected to take part in the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/brecon\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Brecon<\/a> Carreg <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/cardiff\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Cardiff<\/a> 10K and the final phase of the Lloyds Tour of Britain finishing in Cardiff on Sunday, September 7, there will be a series of road closures in place to facilitate these events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">As the Cardiff 10K starts at 10am, there will be a rolling road closure in place from 9am until 1pm along the route to facilitate the race, with further road closures in place from 3am until 6pm to prepare for and facilitate the last leg of the Tour of Britain, when Geraint Thomas will be competing in his last professional cycle race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Thomas has now also announced he will be hosting a special farewell event at Cardiff Castle at the final Tour of Britain stage, with thousands of fans invited. <strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">For the biggest stories in Wales first, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/newsletter-preference-centre\/?view=Solus&amp;mailingListId=aa0abd38-0db5-4492-99f3-e73baecff682&amp;utm_source=solusarticle\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">sign up to our daily newsletter<\/a> here<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_GT-picture.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The end of the road is in sight for Thomas. The details are being kept a surprise from me for now\u2026 but I\u2019m told it\u2019s going to be a lot of fun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;4,000 completely free tickets will be available soon and I\u2019ll post the link when they\u2019re available to grab. Hopefully see you all there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Here is everything you need to know before heading to Cardiff on Saturday or Sunday:<\/p>\n<p>Road Closures to set up the Race Village<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">From 5am on Saturday September 6th until 6pm on Sunday September 7th, the following roads will be closed in the Civic Centre:<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">King Edward VII Avenue, Corbett Road, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road and Gorsedd Gardens Road.<\/p>\n<p>Road Closures for Cardiff 10K<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">From 9am until 1pm, a rolling road closure will be in place on the following roads:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"unordered-list\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">North Road, from the junction with Colum Road to the junction with Boulevard de Nantes &#8211; Access to Blackweir via Park Place\/Corbett Road and access to Queen Anne Square will be managed via Colum Road\/Corbett Road and exiting will be via Corbett Road onto Colum Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">North Road south of the junction with Boulevard de Nantes to the junction with the A1461<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">The A1461 from the junction with North Road to the junction with Kingsway<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Kingsway from the junction with the A1461 to the junction with Duke Street<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Duke Street and Castle Street in their entirety<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Cowbridge Road East from the junction with Castle Street to the junction with Cathedral Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Boulevard de Nantes from the junction with Park Place\/Stuttgart\u2019s Strasse through to the junction with North Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">The Friary and Friary Gardens, Westgate Street, Wood Street, Golate, Guildhall Place, Quay Street, Central Square, Scott Road, Havelock Street and Park Street<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">St Mary Street from the junction with Mill Lane through to Guildhall Place<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">High Street from its junction with Castle Street to the junction with Guildhall Place<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Tudor Street from the junction with Clare Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Fitzhamon Embankment, Despenser Street, Despenser Lane, Despenser Place, Plantaganet Street, Beauchamp Street, Clare Street, Lower Cathedral Road, Brook Street, Mark Street, Green Street and Coldstream Terrace<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Cowbridge Road East from the junction with Cathedral Road to the junction with Neville Street\/Wellington Street<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Neville Street from the junction with Cowbridge Road East to the junction with Lower Cathedral Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Wellington Street from the junction with Leckwith Road (inbound towards the city centre)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Cowbridge Road East from the junction with Kings Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Cathedral Road from the junction with Cowbridge Road East to the junction with Penhill Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">All side roads that exit on to Cathedral Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Hamilton Street, Talbot Street, Sophia Close, Sophia Walk, Spine Road in Sophia Gardens, Plasturton Place, Dyfrig Street, Kyveilog Street, Sneyd Street, Dogo Street, Berthwin Street, Teilo Street, Gileston Road, Meldwin Street, Fairleigh Road, Fields Park Road, Denbigh Street, Fairleigh Court and Heol Wilf Wooller<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Penhill Road from the junction with Llandaff\/Cardiff Road (inbound only)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A lane closure will also be in place on Western Avenue from Excelsior Road to the junction with Mill Lane.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">From 9am until 6pm access to Greyfairs Road will be managed at the junction of Boulevard de Nantes \/ Park Place to facilitate bus movements and residents\/ business within the area only.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">NOTE<\/strong>: the banned right turn from Colum Road into Corbett Road will be revoked to facilitate access to Queen Anne Square only. This will be controlled by traffic management stewards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">For more information on the Brecon Garreg Cardiff 10K, please visit the event organisers website &#8211; <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff10k.cymru\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff10k.cymru\/Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.cardiff10k.cymru\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tour of Britain<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"unordered-list\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">From 3am until 6pm: North Road (Colum Road to Boulevard de Nantes) will be closed including all side roads<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">From 9am until 6pm: Kingsway, Duke Street, Castle Street, Cowbridge Road West (Canton Bridge), and all side roads will be closed<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">From 10am until 5pm: North Road\/Gabalfa flyover and all connecting roads will be closed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Rolling road closures:<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">From 1:30pm until 3pm, the route from the County Boundary via the A469, Thornhill Road, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/caerphilly\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Caerphilly<\/a> Road, A470 to North Road flyover will be closed. All traffic will be held at junctions as cyclists pass, and the roads will be re-opened when it is deemed safe to do so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">For more information on the Tour of Britain, please visit <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.britishcycling.org.uk\/tourofbritain\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"https:\/\/www.britishcycling.org.uk\/tourofbritainLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.britishcycling.org.uk\/tourofbritain<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trains<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Rail services in\/out of Cardiff are expected to be very busy and Transport for Wales will be adding more capacity and additional services where possible.<strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Planned engineering work means there will be no train services in\/out of Cardiff on a number of routes on Sunday 7 September.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"unordered-list\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Between Cardiff Queen Street and Rhymney. Buses will replace trains between Cardiff Central and Caerphilly \/ Ystrad Mynach, Bargoed and Rhymney.<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Between Cardiff Central and Barry, closing all lines on Sunday morning (before 1230). Buses will replace trains between: Cardiff Central and Penarth, Cardiff Central and Barry Island, Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Barry.<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Additionally, no trains will run between Radyr and Cardiff Central via Fairwater.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Due to Network Rail engineering work in west Wales and on the Marches Line, buses also replace trains between <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/carmarthen\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Carmarthen<\/a> and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/swansea\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Swansea<\/a> before 0955 and the line between <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/newport\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Newport<\/a> and Hereford is closed all day on Sunday 7 September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Where rail replacement bus services are operating in\/out of Cardiff, journey times are likely to take longer than usual due to the road closures in the city centre for the events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">For more information visit <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/tfw.wales\/service-status\/planned-improvement-works\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Train disruption | Rail works | Transport for WalesLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Train disruption | Rail works | Transport for Wales<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Parking options<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Park &amp; Walk from Cardiff City Stadium<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Park and walk will be available from Cardiff City Football Stadium from 8am until 6pm<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Getting there: Leave <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/m4\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the M4<\/a> at Junction 33 and take the A4232 towards Cardiff\/<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/barry\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Barry<\/a>. Exit the A4232 onto the B4267, signposted Cardiff City Stadium &#8211; CF11 8AZ<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Cost -\u00a310 per car \u2013 card machine will be available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Event Day Parking at Sophia Gardens<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Parking at Sophia Gardens will be available from 8am until 9am and then from 12.30pm until the Cardiff 10K Race ends.
