King Charles<\/a> has embarked on plans to redesign the gardens at Windsor Castle<\/a>, it has been claimed. The King is said to have a \u201ckeen interest\u201d in the new project – and has ambitions to make the gardens magnificent when seen from the air.<\/p>\n

Although the grounds were typically designed for the use of the Royal Family<\/a>, modernisation efforts have opened the gates of many of the green spaces to members of the public. Speaking of the plans, royal biographer Robert Hardman has said: “The King has taken a keen interest in how the gardens will look from the air.”<\/p>\n

Discussing the King’s plans with the Daily Mail, he added: “The idea is that some passengers may decide to drop by in person when they are on the ground.”<\/p>\n

The King, 76, is reportedly hoping that millions of tourists flying in at Heathrow Airport<\/a> – which is around seven miles east from Windsor Castle – will be able to take in the view of the renovated gardens.<\/p>\n

Many royals over the years have lived at Windsor Castle, including the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and enjoyed its gardens.<\/p>\n

Whilst a young royal, Elizabeth would tend to a plot on the land which grew vegetables such as sweetcorn and dwarf potatoes. Philip used the land to plant 3,500 rosebushes.<\/p>\n

Efforts to modernise the land occurred in 2020 when it was opened to members of the public.<\/p>\n

The King’s current plans are thought to be forming a key part of his legacy.<\/p>\n
