Luke Donald has told Bryson DeChambeau<\/a> his Euro stars will be ready for boisterous Bethpage as he aims to pull off his greatest success.<\/p>\n The Euro skipper has spent 20 months trying to crack the New York code and deliver on Rory McIlroy<\/a>\u2019s big Ryder Cup<\/a> promise.<\/p>\n Donald\u2019<\/a>s team is complete as he picked Shane Lowry, Jon Rahm<\/a>, Sepp Straka, Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Aberg and Matt Fitzpatrick to join automatic qualifiers Rory McIlroy, Bob MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Rasmus Hojgaard and Tyrrell Hatton.<\/p>\n The captain has 11 of his 12 heroes from Rome two years ago back in place, but admits he\u2019s taking a changed approach from Italy.<\/p>\n Sky TV footage showed excitable DeChambeau suggest Europe’s players won\u2019t be ready for the frenzied atmosphere, but the visiting leader responded: \u201cWell, if they\u2019re not ready, then it\u2019s my fault. I\u2019ve been spending 20 months trying to get them ready.<\/p>\n “We understand it\u2019s going to be a hugely tough environment. New Yorkers bring the noise, the energy. But I feel like our players will be ready. I think when you know what to expect, you can prepare for it. That\u2019s really key for us.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve had quite a lot of time to start thinking about different strategies to get these guys in the right frame of mind, but who doesn\u2019t want to play in New York? And the New Yorkers respect hard work, they respect effort, they respect grit. And I promise you, our team will show plenty of that.<\/p>\n \u201cEven though we have a lot of continuity, this is a different animal, to play away. I\u2019ve looked at it from very different angles.<\/p>\n \u201cHaving the chance to do it again doesn\u2019t mean we\u2019re going to do the same things we did in Rome. That\u2019s about implementing new techniques. I\u2019ve really tried to look hard at exactly what this will require.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m very aware that we have lost three of the last four away Ryder Cups by significant margins, but I\u2019ve tried everything I can to give our team the best opportunity. The last 20 months have been dedicated to trying to figure that puzzle out.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat didn\u2019t we do well when we lost away? That has been a big part of my preparation. It\u2019s been very different to some of the thought processes that went into the captaincy for Rome.<\/p>\n \u201cObviously, a lot of things worked well in Rome and we\u2019ll roll some of those out, but this is a different challenge and it requires different strategies.<\/p>\n \u201cEduardo [Molinari], one of my vice-captains, is an amazing part of that. We spend a lot of time going over all kinds of different things. We look at so many different variables and then we try to put the pieces of the puzzle together.<\/p>\n \u201cYou want to give them one vision, one goal and we need to unite together in that. Now we\u2019re 12, we\u2019re excited to go forward as a team.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing the Ryder Cup captain was the biggest privilege in my career. To have the opportunity, obviously, to be a captain that wins both home and away, it\u2019s very motivating for me personally and it\u2019s very motivating for those 12 guys.\u201d<\/p>\n Asked where a win would sit on his CV, he continued: \u201cIt would be at the top, by a long way.\u201d<\/p>\n As Europe celebrated their success in Rome, team talisman McIlroy immediately boomed an intention to go to Bethpage in two years\u2019 time and complete one of golf\u2019s hardest missions by winning.<\/p>\n Donald smiled: \u201cIt\u2019s not like Rory to make strong statements, is it? No pressure! But, listen, looking at certainly recent history, it\u2019s been tough for us.<\/p>\n \u201cBut if you go back far enough, we have plenty of examples of success and certainly I\u2019ll be talking to the guys about that and how that can be motivating because you always want to know that you\u2019ve been able to do it in the past. And we\u2019ve certainly done it more than the US have.\u201d<\/p>\n While home advantage is an obvious bonus, it adds pressure on Bradley and his team to deliver and Donald knows what that\u2019s like having experienced it in Rome.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cI certainly felt it. I was very aware that we hadn\u2019t lost at home for 30 years and coming off a very heavy defeat in Whistling Straits, that pressure was mounting for me. It made me want to be as prepared as I can and I\u2019m sure Keegan is thinking the same thing. He doesn\u2019t want to lose at home.\u201d<\/p>\n Donald knows the experience within his group can be vital as he added: \u201cI think if you go back in the history of our Ryder Cups, when playing away, experience does count for a little bit more, statistically. And just being used to that environment.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s New York, it\u2019s going to be loud, it\u2019s going to be tough. I\u2019m very aware that three of the last four away Ryder Cups were losing for us.<\/p>\n \u201cWe create a very strong culture within the Ryder Cup. We understand the history, what it means. We understand our place within the game and the fact that we have an opportunity not only to set a standard for this away Ryder Cup, but future Ryder Cups as well.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have to manage that tough environment. I understand that\u2019s the biggest advantage the US have. My focus really for the last 20 months is to get these guys ready for that.
