Rabat \u2013 A source close to Moroccan businessman Anas Sefrioui has denied reports that he will take over English football club Sheffield United.<\/p>\n

Moroccan news outlet Le360 quoted<\/a> a close source to the businessman who firmly dismissed the rumors.<\/p>\n

The source\u2019s denial comes after several tabloid news outlets, including The Sun, claimed that Sefrioui was set to purchase Sheffield on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoroccan billionaire Anas Sefrioui is looking to buy a club in England- with Sheffield Wednesday in his sights,\u201d The Sun wrote<\/a>, describing the businessman as one of the richest men in Africa.<\/p>\n

The news outlet claimed Serfioui had hired a legal firm to handle the purchase\u00a0 if the price is \u201cright and he has control.\u201d<\/p>\n

EFL Analysis picked up<\/a> the same news, claiming that the Moroccan businessman had Sheffield in his sights.<\/p>\n

Sheffield was \u201cthe subject of interest from America not long ago, but now, it is thought Moroccan billionaire Anas Sefrioui is on the hunt for a project in England,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

The report further claimed that the property developer had hired a \u201ctop legal firm\u201d to pursue this investment opportunity.<\/p>\n

Sefrioui is active in the real estate sector, with a real-time net worth estimated at $1.6 billion, according to Forbes.<\/p>\n
