The BBC has revealed its cast for a new high-stakes legal drama with filming already taking place in Glasgow<\/a>. The eight part drama<\/a> Counsels, which is a Balloon Entertainment production, is co-created by Skins creator Bryan Elsley and BBC Writers’ Drama Room graduate Gillian McCormack.<\/p>\n

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Glasgow’s city centre, Counsels follows the professional and personal lives of a group of 20-something lawyers at a pivotal point in their careers.<\/p>\n

From public prosecutors and high-flying commercial lawyers to the compassionate last-resort advocates for society’s most vulnerable, each character is determined to win – both in the courtroom<\/a> and in life.<\/p>\n

The series promises gripping drama, exploring the characters’ relationships, rivalries and a fierce clash of ambitions, as the young lawyers step into the legal world.<\/p>\n

The series is made for BBC iPlayer, BBC One and BBC Scotland in association with All3Media International and in coproduction with ZDFneo.<\/p>\n

The cast features a mix of rising talents and established actors. The young lawyers include Brandon Grace, known for his role as Jamie in My Lady Jane, Rebecca Bell, star of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, who will play Karina, as well as Ro Kumar as Bav, Eilidh Park as Nadine, George Prentice as Alasdair and Alyth Ross as Katie.<\/p>\n

The show will be set in Glasgow capturing the city’s character and energy, and the show’s producers and team at the BBC could not be happier with this.<\/p>\n

Co-writer Bryan Elsley expressed his excitement about the project, saying: “I am delighted to be leading with Gillian McCormack on Counsels. We look forward to introducing a galaxy of Scottish acting, writing and directing talent to our audience.<\/p>\n

“Set entirely in Glasgow, we hope to bring the city vividly to life and fill it with arresting stories and characters.”<\/p>\n

Gillian McCormack added: “It\u2019s been amazing to work with Bryan and see our incredible crew and phenomenal cast come together.<\/p>\n

“Developing our characters and their worlds has been a brilliant experience and I can\u2019t wait to share their stories set against the backdrop of the dynamic, exciting and contemporary city of Glasgow, of which I am hugely proud.”<\/p>\n

Counsels is part of the biggest BBC investment in Scottish drama in ‘over a decade.’<\/p>\n
