Garda\u00ed (Irish police) are investigating the disappearance of a child who they fear may have died in unreported and suspicious circumstances in Dublin.<\/p>\n
The child, a boy, was last seen when he was about three-and-a-half years old, and has not been seen for a number of years, RT\u00c9 (Ireland’s national broadcaster) are reporting.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed were first alerted to the case on Friday by the Republic of Ireland’s child and family agency, Tusla.<\/p>\n
A residence in Donabate, County Dublin, has since been searched.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Tusla said a referral was made to An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na on 29 August, following an application made for a social welfare payment.<\/p>\n
Tulsa have said they will “continue to work closely with garda\u00ed” throughout the investigation.<\/p>\n
RT\u00c9 are reporting that detectives suspect the child has come to harm and that his body may have been buried or disposed of.<\/p>\n
A statement said: “Garda\u00ed are continuing to carry out operational enquiries in north County Dublin into the current whereabouts and welfare of a child.<\/p>\n
“An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na is not in a position to provide any further detail at this time.”<\/p>\n
