Scott Spiegel<\/strong>, who co-wrote Evil Dead 2<\/strong> with frequent collaborator Sam Raimi<\/strong>, has reportedly passed away at the age of 67.<\/p>\n

Spiegel met Raimi and Bruce Campbell<\/strong> in junior high and went on to play the role of Scotty in Within the Woods<\/strong>, which served as a precursor to The Evil Dead<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In addition to writing Evil Dead 2, he served\u00a0as a \u201cFake Shemp\u201d in both The Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2.<\/p>\n

Spiegel would pop up in cameos in several of Raimi\u2019s later efforts, including Darkman, The Quick and the Dead, Spider-Man, <\/strong>and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Outside his work with Raimi, Spiegel is known for writing and directing the 1989 slasher Intruder<\/strong>, inspired by his time working at a grocery store, as well as helming From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money <\/strong>and Hostel: Part III<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Spiegel also executive produced the Hostel<\/strong> franchise, co-wrote Clint Eastwood<\/strong>\u2018s The Rookie<\/strong>, produced 2001 Maniacs<\/strong>, and introduced Quentin Tarantino<\/strong> to producer Lawrence Bender<\/strong>, who helped get Reservoir Dogs<\/strong> made.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a big personal loss,\u201d Campbell wrote on Twitter<\/a>. \u201cScott Spiegel was a huge part of my formative years back in Michigan. From Sunday School to being stock boys together, to Evil Dead II, which Scott co-wrote, I can\u2019t look in the rear view mirror without seeing this unique guy doing cheap gags.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell continued, \u201cI\u2019m grateful for the treasure trove of happy memories. Keep Shemping, Scott!\u201d<\/p>\n
