Pic: Ribble Rivers Trust.<\/p>\n<p>A network of new wetlands, wader scrapes, hedgerows and woodlands has transformed land in the Ribble Valley as part of a major restoration project led by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.vuelio.co.uk\/tracking\/click?d=9GBFpD59Uk5tXO6t8AaZjPaIcy-8sgi7iCzN0UrHpsIeyUvjadu_X8VTCb-dQn9oiTH9ZYZm7n-2s8AmmTH3hXtORqyNkVo6aT1XZ3gG1XzaHgKITCpZ0HkVFmI4nRzggoPVQvTQiU_JMP_2QwvHqFU1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ribble Rivers Trust<\/a>\u00a0and local landowners.<\/p>\n<p>\t&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The initiative at Cow Ark, which is near the iconic Inn at Whitewell pub in the Forest of Bowland, aims to restore nature, improve water management and strengthen resilience to climate change.<\/p>\n<p>The works mean wetlands and wader scrapes (small pools in fields) now hold water for longer, providing vital feeding grounds for wading birds and homes for amphibians and invertebrates. And although the major works are complete, further enhancements are planned, including wetland plug planting to increase biodiversity. <\/p>\n<p>The project was funded by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.vuelio.co.uk\/tracking\/click?d=sgahyP9zxU7pN_lsPGSHaNZXiYdBd_dfDl0VKaMZGB_AALvdUCb7d6gg0lgmDlgRZ78yjW0Whf5Pal0hu7QSuIvh_dhEA2M4LO9P844ZXuItk8H8ToLlETvUyhrQVeKOKHAITMbEeExbrjBF99vX7j8Q0zH6RgDmkwqOKg_mQaW7G6Zc4uhVnyMp_TG7h0w7qqUi0vE3TY1uj6thWxxA8sU1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Species Survival Fund<\/a>, a \u00a325 million initiative administered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund on behalf of Defra.
