{"id":391159,"date":"2025-09-02T06:03:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T06:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/391159\/"},"modified":"2025-09-02T06:03:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T06:03:10","slug":"european-markets-on-tues-sept-2-euro-zone-inflation-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/391159\/","title":{"rendered":"European markets on Tues Sept. 2; euro zone inflation data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Illustration of food items placed on the belt of a cash register in a Leclerc supermarket in Valence, France, April 4, 2025.   <\/p>\n<p>Nicolas Guyonnet | Afp | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>LONDON \u2014 European stocks are expected to open around the flatline on Tuesday as tariff uncertainty causes global markets to waver.<\/p>\n<p>The U.K.&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.FTSE\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FTSE<\/a> index is seen largely unchanged, Germany&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.GDAXI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DAX<\/a> and<strong> <\/strong>France&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.FCHI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CAC 40<\/a>\u00a0are expected to be just a touch into negative territory and Italy&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.FTMIB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FTSE MIB<\/a> 0.15% lower.<\/p>\n<p>Regional bourses kicked off the new trading month higher on Monday, with the defense and health-care sectors receiving a boost from corporate news.<\/p>\n<p>The mood has changed overnight, however, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/09\/02\/asia-stock-markets-today-live-updates-nikkei-225-asx-200-kospi-hang-seng-csi-300-sensex-nifty-50.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Asia-Pacific markets<\/a> trading mixed and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/09\/01\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. stock futures<\/a> little changed on Monday night, with investors weighing the trade landscape after a U.S. federal appeals court\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/29\/trump-trade-tariffs-appeals-court-ieepa.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ruled that most<\/a>\u00a0of President\u00a0Donald Trump&#8217;s\u00a0global tariffs\u00a0are illegal.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit determined in a 7-4 ruling that only Congress has the authority to apply sweeping levies. Trump called the decision &#8220;Highly Partisan&#8221; and has said that he will appeal the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Those developments could weigh on U.S. market sentiment in September, which is, historically, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/25\/setting-up-for-another-awful-september-the-months-track-record-has-been-abysmal-in-recent-years.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">worst month for equities<\/a>, with the S&amp;P 500 averaging a 4.2% drop over the last five years, and falling more than 2% on average over the last 10.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, regional investors will be keeping a close eye on euro zone inflation data released at 10 a.m. London time.
