John McEnroe has labelled Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> as a cut above Roger Federer<\/a>, Novak Djokovic<\/a> and Rafael Nadal<\/a> at the age of 22.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard has enjoyed an incredible career in tennis to date at such a young age, boasting five Grand Slam titles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have to say that Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> is my favourite player to watch,\u201d McEnroe explained. \u201cAnd that’s mainly because he’s willing to do anything and try anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe’s not content to just play from the baseline. A lot of players have been playing like that for a long time, and it’s become a bit repetitive, with the same style of play, and then there were the big serves.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo they tried to change that at Wimbledon<\/a>, to slow down the court so that the serve wasn’t so important.<\/p>\n

\u201cIronically, the courts here at the US Open are quite fast, and I think that makes them more interesting, because players have to be more comfortable coming to the net. [Jannik] Sinner has worked hard on that.
