Arcade Fire<\/a> have confirmed that Richard Reed Parry will miss their upcoming \u2018Pink Elephant\u2019 tour due to paternity leave.<\/p>\n

The Canadian indie rockers are preparing to release their seventh\u00a0album, also titled \u2018Pink Elephant\u2019<\/a>, on May 9, and so far they have previewed the record with the single \u2018Year Of The Snake<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

A range of international cities will be getting live previews of the album<\/a> with a string of shows that kick off in Mexico City on Tuesday (April 22). New Orleans, Charleston, Montreal, Toronto, Brooklyn and Philadelphia will follow, after which they will play a one-off show at London\u2019s Royal Albert Hall on May 14<\/a>. However, on Monday (April 21), the band revealed that multi-instrumentalist Richard Reed Parry will miss the dates while he is on paternity leave.<\/p>\n

Posting on Instagram, the band wrote: \u201cCongratulations to our bandmate Richard Reed Parry and his wife Laurel as they prepare for the birth of their first child.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll miss Richy this tour (as Canadians we\u2019re all for radical ideas like paternity leave!) but we couldn\u2019t be happier for him and his family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Pink Elephant\u2019 is said to explore a \u201ccinematic mystical punk\u201d approach. When it was first announced, it was confirmed that it would span 42 minutes and include 10 new songs \u2013 all of which were recorded at Win Butler <\/a>and R\u00e9gine Chassagne\u2019s own Good News Recording Studio in New Orleans.<\/p>\n

The lead single sees Chassagne deliver soothing vocals and make her Arcade Fire debut on the bass, while frontman Win Butler sits behind the drum kit for the first time with the band. Check it out above and\u00a0visit here to pre-order \u2018Pink Elephant\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

News of new material follows on from\u00a0allegations of sexual misconduct that arose against Butler<\/a>. Four people came forward to accuse the singer of inappropriate behaviour, and the accusations also\u00a0led to Feist leaving her tour early<\/a>. Butler replied to the allegations in a lengthy statement of his own, claiming he was \u201cvery sorry to anyone who I have hurt with my behaviour\u201d but maintaining that \u201cthese relationships were all consensual\u201d.<\/p>\n
