{"id":393541,"date":"2025-09-03T03:25:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T03:25:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/393541\/"},"modified":"2025-09-03T03:25:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T03:25:10","slug":"money-blog-major-blow-for-interest-rate-cut-hopes-money-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/393541\/","title":{"rendered":"Money blog: Major blow for interest rate cut hopes | Money News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n                                    Omaze boss says UK doesn&#8217;t have enough nice homes for the competition &#8211; as he rejects &#8216;nonsense&#8217; criticism\n                                <\/p>\n<p>The boss of Omaze has warned there are not enough quality homes being built and he might have to start building his own to keep his competitions going.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Pohlson told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/money\/property\/buying-selling\/omaze-boss-british-nimbyism-build-homes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Telegraph<\/a> that opposition to local housing developments, known as nimbyism, had made it &#8220;hard to build&#8221; all over the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You look at the US, the UK, Australia, Germany, countries we&#8217;re either in or looking at going into &#8211; it&#8217;s the same patterns, the same thing is happening everywhere,&#8221; he told the newspaper.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People don&#8217;t let go of these houses. And sometimes they haven&#8217;t been built. One hundred per cent, we need to be building more houses.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;If we can&#8217;t find the stuff [ticket buyers] want, we&#8217;ll have to get building.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Omaze gives away one multimillion-pound house every month, with people paying a minimum of \u00a310 to enter each draw and the company&#8217;s charity partners given a portion of the proceeds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The house comes mortgage-free, with all legal fees and stamp duty paid.
