Celtic have reportedly made contact with England international Patrick Bamford as they search for a new striker.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bamford, who has one Three Lions<\/a> cap to his name, departed Leeds United<\/a> after seven years at the club last month.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old<\/a> reached a mutual agreement with the Whites to terminate his contract and allow him to leave this summer. <\/p>\n

It meant he became a free agent and now Celtic<\/a> could swoop. <\/p>\n

According to Scottish newspaper The Herald, Celtic have made an enquiry<\/a> over a potential move for Bamford.<\/p>\n

Brendan Rodgers<\/a> is on the lookout for a new striker having sold Adam Idah to Swansea City on deadline day.<\/p>\n

Idah returned to the Championship in a deal worth \u00a36million.<\/p>\n

Celtic do still have Daizen Maeda, Johnny Kenny and new signing Shin Yamada as options, along with youngster Callum Osmand.<\/p>\n

But apart from Maeda, experience is lacking, and Rodgers will want a more proven name leading the line. <\/p>\n

And Bamford could be that profile of signing, with the frontman collecting over 100 Premier League<\/a> appearances in his career.<\/p>\n

He has also played 217 Championship games, scoring a total of 73 goals<\/a> across England’s top two divisions. <\/p>\n

After starting his career at Nottingham Forest<\/a>, Bamford played for Chelsea<\/a>, MK Dons, Derby, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace<\/a>, Norwich, Burnley<\/a> and Leeds.<\/p>\n

Bamford had his contract terminated at Leeds to allow him to find a move away<\/a> from Elland Road. <\/p>\n

After seven years at the club, he was not part of manager Daniel Farke<\/a>‘s plans, having seen his game time limited.<\/p>\n

He has also suffered with injuries at Leeds, missing 16 games just this year, which contributed to his zero league goals scored last season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following confirmation of his departure, Bamford said on Instagram: “Right now, with the way it has come to an end and the way things have been handled recently it is all too raw for me to reflect on immediately.<\/p>\n

“But in the years to come I will look back at this period of my life with nothing but joy and pride and be super happy with what I have achieved.<\/p>\n

“I want to thank all the managers I played under but especially Marcelo Bielsa<\/a>. I don’t know where the club would be without the foundations he laid.”<\/p>\n

Celtic reportedly missed out on signing Danish striker Kasper Dolberg and Chelsea forward David Datro Fofana on deadline day. <\/p>\n

But they still have one other target, according to Sun Sport. <\/p>\n

The Hoops made a late bid<\/a> for Kelechi Iheanacho<\/a> on Monday before the ex-Manchester City striker departed Sevilla. <\/p>\n

Nigeria international Iheanacho was released by the Spanish side and is now also a free agent like Bamford.<\/p>\n

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship, making 15 appearances and scoring once. <\/p>\n

The 28-year-old, who came through Man City’s academy, played under Celtic boss Rodgers at Leicester City<\/a>.<\/p>\n
