Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton is still being linked with a move to Manchester United<\/a> even after the summer transfer window has closed.<\/p>\n

United made five new signings during the summer window but were heavily linked with bringing a new midfielder to Old Trafford<\/a>. Wharton is one of the players who have been credited as a potential target for United this summer, with a host of other clubs said to have held an interest.<\/p>\n

Signing a new midfielder was one of the pieces of business that United did not complete during the summer, with Christian Eriksen’s<\/a> departure leaving a potential space in the squad. However, it seems that United may have plans to fill that void with Wharton in the not-too-distant future.<\/p>\n

According to TEAMtalk, United are planning to make a move for Wharton when the January transfer window opens. It has been claimed that the Reds will face competition from Chelsea<\/a> for the Palace star’s signature, with both clubs said to be leading the race to complete a deal in the New Year.<\/p>\n

United are reported to be willing to pay more than \u00a350million to try and sign Wharton in January, with Chelsea having the same plans. However, Palace boss Oliver Glasner has been determined to keep Wharton at Selhurst Park, which led to the midfielder remaining at the club this summer.<\/p>\n
