{"id":394781,"date":"2025-09-03T14:49:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T14:49:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/394781\/"},"modified":"2025-09-03T14:49:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T14:49:11","slug":"confirmed-fee-wrexham-will-give-sheffield-wednesday-supporters-trust-after-rob-macs-gesture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/394781\/","title":{"rendered":"Confirmed fee Wrexham will give Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust after Rob Mac&#8217;s gesture"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Wrexham are now making a generous donation to the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sheffield Wednesday fans have been protesting owner Dejphon Chansiri during each fixture their side has played this season.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/news\/statement-issued-by-former-wrexham-owners-as-ryan-reynolds-and-rob-macs-club-make-wrong-decision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wrexham came under fire<\/a> after it was revealed that they would not allow Owls fans travelling for their fixture to bring banners into the Racecourse Ground, as they were considered to carry \u2018political connotations\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>But after pressure from fans and the Wrexham Supporters Trust, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/news\/wrexham-confirm-u-turn-on-controversial-sheffield-wednesday-decision-after-pressure-from-ex-owners-and-fans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Red Dragons released a statement on the protest issue<\/a>, confirming they would indeed be able to hang a banner in the away end of their match.<\/p>\n<p>Following that unwanted press, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/tag\/rob-mcelhenney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rob Mac<\/a> announced a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/news\/rob-mac-details-classy-wrexham-gesture-ahead-of-sheffield-wednesday-legend-says-its-fantastic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gesture to the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was stated that any profit made on the Dragons\u2019 gold shirts from last season during a specific period would be donated to the SWST, and the fee raised has now been confirmed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2162616266-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Rob McElhenney attends Wrexham AFC's Wrex Coast tour kick-off party\" class=\"wp-image-38216\" \/>Photo by Stefanie Keenan\/Getty Images for Wrexham AFCThe fee Wrexham will send to the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/match\/wrexham-player-ratings-vs-sheffield-wednesday-kieffer-moore-stuns-but-theres-a-5-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wrexham drew 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> on Saturday, August 23.<\/p>\n<p>The home side went 2-0 up in the first half but were forced to settle for a point.<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of the result, there was some confusion regarding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/news\/false-claim-made-on-wrexham-donation-to-sheffield-wednesday-supporters-trust-statement-pending\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wrexham\u2019s donation to Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, the WST have now confirmed the amount that the SWST will be receiving in a statement on X\/Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>They wrote: \u201cThe Trust are delighted to report that the @SWFCTrust are to receive \u00a337,500 from the profit of the Golden shirt sales. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition we are proud to announce that the Club is matching this amount with a separate donation to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital Diolch by fawr iawn I bawb!\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Trust are delighted to report that the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SWFCTrust?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@SWFCTrust<\/a> are to receive \u00a337,500 from the profit of the Golden shirt sales<br \/>In addition we are proud to announce that the Club is matching this amount with a separate donation to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital <br \/>Diolch by fawr iawn I bawb!
